DC’s BLACK LIGHTNING To Become Series At CW

Super Producer and writer Greg Berlanti is adding a fifth superhero TV series to the CW next season. The network, which already has ArrowThe FlashDC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirlhas ordered a new series based on another DC property, Black Lightning. Entertainment Weekly describes the show:

“Jefferson Pierce made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with one daughter hell-bent on justice and the other a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.”

Black Lightning is one of DC’s first major African-American superheroes; he was created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden in 1977.

One thing is for certain, despite DC’s recent trend in more than disappointing features, you have to say their television game has been pretty strong. It really is something unique and special when one network has so many properties in one place.

What do you think about the addition of Black Lightning to the CW family?

BOOSTER GOLD Film Will Not Be Part of the DC Movie Universe

Well here’s some news that seems more positive than not given DC’s recent movie outings. io9 is reporting that the announced Booster Gold film will not be part of the DC Movie Universe. Greg Berlanti (who is heading up the project that was initially pitched as a TV series) gives the official word:

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing.”

This would make sense as Booster Gold is a man from the future who steals a super suit and time machine and travels to our time to be a great hero. Booster Gold is a bit too goofy for how serious the current DC movie universe is anyway, so I think that’s best, but he would be great if he were a part of the TV universe!
