5 Ways Disney Can’t Stop Screwing Up Star Wars

Star Wars. You love it! You think it’s great. But what if Star Wars stopped being great? That would be bad, right? And bad things aren’t great! Everybody knows that! Seeing as how we’re all in agreement here, let’s talk about the possibility that Disney’s entire strategy for Star Wars might be, as a whole, actually madly deeply verifiably bad. I know it’s painful to fathom such a terrible possibility — I mean, The Last Jedi looks just bonkers — but I can’t help to notice a few glaring red flags. Bad flags. So without further ado …

Steve Guttenberg Says That a New POLICE ACADEMY Movie is Coming

There have been reports of a Police Academy reboot happening for years. The last thing we heard about it was that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele were brought in to produce the film. That was back in 2014 and a lot has happened since then, especially with Peele’s success after Get Out became a huge hit.

Well, according to Police Academy actor Steve Guttenberg, there is a new film coming. He doesn’t offer any details and we don’t know if Key and Peele are still involved, but I hope they are. I always enjoyed their style of comedy. Here’s the Tweet Guttenberg posted:

The Complete History of the Infinity Stones: The Soul Stone

Infinity Stones

What are the Infinity Stones? No… what are they, really?

As the INFINITY WARS are raging, we decided the time was right to break down the full history of the most powerful items in the Marvel Universe. First up? The Soul Stone…

The first to appear of all the Stones, the Soul Stone served as inspiration for all the rest. Eons ago, the six Gems (as they were then known) were an essential part of an ancient entity called Nemesis, who chose to destroy itself rather than live as the only sentient being in the universe. From its destruction came the Stones—the six key building blocks of the universe: Mind, Reality, Power, Space, Time, and Soul.

New Details Revealed Regarding The Changes to Chucky in The CHILD’S PLAY Remake

A couple of months ago it was announced that MGM was going to reboot the classic horror franchise Child’s Play. This movie is completely separate from the upcoming TV series that is being developed by creator Don Mancini, who will not be involved with the film reboot.

When the project was first announced we learned that the film would be a “contemporary reboot involving a group of kids… and a technologically-advanced doll enters their world.”

We now have some additional details on how the killer Chucky doll will be portrayed in the film and they are pretty much abandoning the whole voodoo possessed doll concept. According to CB, Chucky is “a defective ‘Buddy doll’ whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence.”

VENOM Will Get a PG-13 Rating, Hoping That MCU Characters will Crossover in Future Films

For years we’ve been told that Marvel Studios’ MCU character would not crossover with Sony Pictures’ separate cinematic universe that they are building. But, that doesn’t mean Sony Pictures can’t hope for something a little more. They would love to see characters from the MCU eventually crossover with their future movies!

They are already taking steps to try to pave the way if it ever does happen. One of those steps is to ensure their first film there cinematic universe, Venom, gets a PG-13 rating. If it got an R-rating, Marvel Studios might not want to play ball with them later on down the road. Variety reports:

Disney To Cancel “Costly” Non-Family Friendly Film Projects at Fox But Will Release Films Already Completed

disney-may-cancel-costly-non-family-friendly-film-projects-at-fox-but-will-release-films-already-completed-social.jpg

Thanks to the Wall Street Journal, we have some additional insight into what Disney might be planning after the purchase of Fox is complete. There are definitely some big changes that will be coming to Fox, but as of right now everyone at the studio is supposed to just be moving forward as if nothing is happening.

“Fox is obligated to keep acting as if it will survive, people who work at the studio say, which means making movies and developing new ideas with no certainty as to what Disney will end up doing with them.”

That obviously can’t be easy to do because people are going to lose their jobs in the process of this merger.

A lot of fans have been wondering if some of the changes will affect the films that Fox is currently developing. The recent reports says that Disney has plans to release any movies from the studio that are completed or in the middle of production when Disney’s acquisition is complete. That means you can expect all those Marvel films in production to be released like X-Men: Dark Pheonix and The New Mutants.

The X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Will Reportedly Go Through 3 Months of Reshoots!

Update: X-Men: Dark Pheonix will reportedly not take three months to shoot. Collider reports that sources close to the production of Dark Phoenix say that this report is “erroneous.” The film is going back for additional shooting, but it’s only scheduled to last two and a half weeks, which is normal.

Reshoots for big-budget tentpole films in Hollywood is normal. What isn’t normal is when those reshoots will last three months! According to a recent report, director Simon Kinberg‘s X-Men: Dark Phoenix is rumored to undergo three months of reshoots, which means Fox hates the current cut of the film that was turned in.

If that’s true, the movie must be a huge mess! The initial principal photography of the film last year lasted three and a half months, so with three months of reshoots being planned… are they looking to reshoot the whole movie!? That’s just crazy.

Warner Bros. Has Reportedly Approached James Gunn About Directing a DC Film

warner-bros-has-reportedly-approached-james-gunn-about-directing-a-dc-film-social.jpg

Yesterday we learned that director James Gunn was negotiating his possible exit as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s said his script will be used for the film and that there’s a chance he could come back to direct a future Marvel movie in the event they officially don’t bring him back to direct Vol. 3.

It’s also being reported that Gunn has been approached by several top producers and executives in Hollywood to write and direct a number of big film projects that the studios are looking to develop. They are excited to work with Gunn! One studio executive said:

“Most people feel his comments were coming out of his brand of comedy [at the time he made them]. Having an inappropriate sense of humor shouldn’t be a crime.”

One of the studios looking to hire Gunn is said to be Warner Bros. They would love to get him on board to direct one of their DC film properties! As of right now, though, Gunn is unable to entertain any offers until the “Disney matter is 100 percent resolved.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out and what is store for Gunn’s future. But Marvel’s loss could be DC’s gain. Would you like to see Gunn direct a DC film? If so, which character or characters would you want to see him play with?

Jeremy Renner Officially Cast as Twitch in Todd McFarlane’s SPAWN

Last week it was rumored that Jeremy Renner was up for the lead role of Detective ‘Twitch’ Williams in Todd McFarlane‘s Spawn. Well, Deadline is now reporting that the rumor is true. Renner has officially been cast in the movie and joins Jamie Foxx, who was previously cast as Spawn.

McFarlane had this to say in a statement regarding the casting and why he ended up bringing Renner to the role:

“As a first time director, I wanted to surround myself with the most talent and the most skilled people I can on all fronts. I was lucky enough to land Jason Blum and then Jamie Foxx, and I knew the person on screen the most is this police officer, Twitch Williams. We needed as strong a person as possible because he will be the face of the film. I took my naïve Hollywood approach again, and said let’s start at the top and work down. Jeremy was at the top. I’m a huge fan of his. The character doesn’t need to be a bodybuilder or GQ handsome. I was looking for somebody who’s a person you’ve met before; I needed someone who can pull off the grief of an average human being. I’ve seen Jeremy do that in more than a few of his movies. He was at the top of my list, just like Jamie.”

It’s pretty awesome that McFarlane is landing the actors at the top of his list for this film. I’ve said before that it’s hard to imagine Renner as Twitch but he’s a great actor that will be able to pull off McFarlane’s feature film vision for the character. McFarlane went on to say:

“Spawn is King Arthur and Twitch is Sir Lancelot, and this isn’t about physicality, or jumping over buildings. This is more a brawn and brain combination, and the first film I think of with him is The Hurt Locker, the army grunt doing the job, and that spilled out into all these roles leading up to Wind River. There was a sense of melancholy to that character that is important and that was a movie also made by a first time director, but one who wrote the thing and so wasn’t nervous about trying to get what you want. Jeremy had the experience of working with the first timer and saw that if you put a good crew together, the whole is way better than the parts and you don’t have to worry.”

Producer Jason Blum added his two cents about the casting of Renner:

“Jeremy is the ideal choice for Twitch Williams. He radiates honesty, intelligence and a hard-working, everyman charisma, the same qualities that make Twitch such a compelling character.”

McFarlane says the next step will be to lock down a distributor for the film which will have a 10 to 12 million dollar budget:

“Jason and I feel we have a strong package here. Academy Award nominated and Academy Award nominated actor. As a first time director, I guess I’m the weak link, but I think my brand is strong. Hopefully when we go to studios, fairly soon, we’ll get the interest of more than one and we can pick what place will do this project justice, marketing and distributing it. We’re going to go for as close to a green light as we can get, since the development process has already been done. We’re looking for someone to say, ‘yeah cool, we’ll take it.’ It’s a reasonable budget, we’re not asking anyone to stretch. The goal here is a quality project at reasonable price.”

With the talent that Mcfarlane has brought in to develop this new Spawn film, I don’t think he’s going to have an issue landing a studio to distribute the film, especially with the extremely low budget that it has. I think this movie is going to be a big hit.

Are you happy to hear that Renner will be taking on the role of Twitch?
