MAX STEEL: Andy Garcia Casted
THR has confirmed that one of the best actors out there, Andy Garcia, will be playing Dr. Miles Edwards in a big screen adaptation of Max Steel. He will join Ben Winchell and Ana Villafane, who were perviously cast. Max Steel was a line of action figures that spawned an animated series in the early 2000s. Here is the synopsis of the film:
The origins story chronicles the adventures of 16-year-old Max McGrath (Winchell) and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, and fighting the mysterious forces threatening their world.
The movie is being written by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World). With the recent demand for superhero movies, this doesn’t sound too bad. What are your thoughts on this?
Tim Blake Nelson Joins The Fantastic Four as the Mole Man
Tim Blake Nelson has joined the cast of Josh Trank’s upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation The Fantastic Four. The Hollywood Reporter says that he’ll be playing Harvey Elder opposite Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan and Toby Kebbell.
Comic book fans will recall Elder’s name as being the alternate identity of the subterranean ruler known as the Mole Man. In comic book lore, Elder was a scientist who, after being lost on an expedition to Monster Island, wound up discovering the world of Subterranea. Because he was mocked by the surface world for his theories regarding the underground kingdom, Elder decided to stay and became the world’s ruler. Although the Mole Man was the villain of the very first “Fantastic Four” comic, the trade notes that Elder is slated to appear as a scientist only, potentially setting the Mole Man up for future sequels.
Nelson is no stranger to playing scientists-turned-Marvel-Comics-supervillains. He played Dr. Samuel Sterns (aka the Leader) in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
The Fantastic Four is set for release on June 19, 2015.
TERMINATOR: GENESIS, Aaron Williamson Cast as T-800
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joined by another T-800 Terminator machine in Terminator: Genesis. Body-builder Aaron Williamson revealed that he’ll be playing a T-800 in the next installment of the franchise. Here’s what he had to say:
“Thanks to an amazing team of people who help me get better each week, both physically & creatively, I’ll be playing a T-800 (Terminator) in the upcoming production ‘Terminator: Genesis’. I’m extremely grateful & motivated as this new chapter begins to take shape.”
What has yet to be seen is if he will be playing a new character in the movie, or just a younger version of the original model that Schwarzenegger made famous. In Terminator: Salvation they used a body-builder’s body for the T-800 and then digitally added on Schwarzenegger’s head. It looked awful, but technology has improved since then. When asked by TheTerminatorFans.com who he would be playing this was his reply:
“I’m not really at liberty to discuss anything w/ regard to this part. My social media followers have been following my journey since I returned to the states from Iraq, which is why I shared that photo; my desire to overcome adversity has really moved people. Where I’m at in my life right now is destiny & it’s truly a blessing. I grew up as a skinny kid watching the original Terminator & was fascinated by Arnold which is the man who inspired my career in fitness. To be a part of this production is a dream come true & a very special moment for me.”
The image above is something that he came up with and posted. As far as I know it’s not official production art.
The film is being directed by Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor, and it also stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt, and Laeta Kalogridis.
