Is a Deadpool Movie Getting Closer?

Is the Deadpool movie getting closer? Ryan Reynolds talked about the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off to Yahoo!:

“[In] its current iteration the movie’s actually very small. There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?’ Which unfortunately needs a Rated R or it needs those elements.”

He added: “The script is probably available online, it leaked. But it’s very meta, I mean the character knows he’s in a movie, he knows he’s in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it’s kind of a risky property. But, you know, we’ll see. It’s actually, within the last couple of weeks, taken a few very, very small tiptoes forward. “

Asked if the movie was ever going to be made, Reynolds responded: “In our lifetime? Yeah, I think so. I think if I were a betting man it’ll get made, eventually. I mean it’s just been developed to high heaven. It has great people around it, so we’ll see.”

DARTH VADER TV Specials and STAR WARS: Episode VII Release Date

The folks at the appropriately named Jedi News have a source who attended the European Brand Licensing Show, where this information was handed out by Disney. A few notable titles have been circled in the photo of the brochure.

Darth Vader TV Special

I highly doubt it’s a live action TV special. More likely it’s an animated introduction/pilot to Star Wars: Rebels. I’d guess that when we do see a live action special it will be after Episode VII as a test for Star Wars: Underground.

Episode VII Release Date

Until now, reports have been saying that Star Wars: Episode VII’s release date is getting pushed into December 2015 to give director J.J. Abrams more time to develop the movie. But this brochure clearly says that Star Wars: Epsiode VII is headed for a Spring/Summer 2015 release date. I would love a summer Star Wars movie, but a few more months to get the movie right is worth it in my mind.

This one features Superman proposing a team-up with Batman, and Batman just doesn’t see the point of it because… well, it’s Superman. What does Superman need Batman for? If you liked Holmes’ other Batman sketches, then you’ll enjoy this one as well.

Villain Revealed for STAR WARS REBELS – NYCC 2013

At New York City Comic-Con Lucasfilm revealed the new villain of the upcoming Star Wars Rebels  animated series! His name is the Inquisitor, and he looks like a badass! I was at the panel, where they showed off a ton of really cool concept art from the series, and it looks like it will be even better than The Clone Wars series! I’m super-freakin-excited about this!

The next great villain from a galaxy far, far away is here. Fans attending Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Rebels panel today at New York Comic Con got the world’s first look at the Inquisitor, a black-clad, intimidating figure who will play a prominent role in the upcoming animated series. In a special video (available below) screened at the end of the panel, Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni officially revealed the character, showing a sculpted maquette, design sketches, and disclosing that the Inquisitor is “tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.”

The panel, hosted by Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo, focused on the Empire and how it is central to the story of Star Wars Rebels. Hidalgo revealed that the series takes place about 14 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, a time in which the Emperor’s rule is secure and the Empire is seeking to expand its power to Outer Rim territories. That leads Imperial forces to Lothal, a poor planet that initially welcomes the Empire on the promise of security and prosperity. It soon becomes obvious, however, that the Empire does not have Lothal’s best interests at heart, as the Imperials exploit its people and begin recruiting young citizens to join TIE fighter and Stormtrooper academies, or to work in the Sienar Fleet Systems factory — which builds TIE fighters — in the planet’s capital. Hidalgo showed new art focusing on Lothal, including the planet itself, a town, and alleyways, as well as an Empire recruitment poster.

The show is fully embracing the Star Wars legacy, taking direct inspiration from the original trilogy and its concept artist Ralph McQuarrie. Hidalgo displayed new Star Wars Rebels imagery and animation models for Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers, TIE fighters, and TIE fighter pilots, all of which fit seamlessly with classic Star Wars. Additionally, Hidalgo introduced several new Imperial vehicles and designs created for the series: the All Terrain Defense Pod (AT-DP), a ground attack walker based on an early Joe Johnston (the filmmaker who designed Boba Fett’s armor and speeder bikes, and made other major contributions to Star Wars) illustration from 1979; the new AT-DP pilot, which blends designs of the classic AT-AT walker driver from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and the AT-ST walker pilot from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi; the Imperial Troop Transport, which comes from an early Kenner toy that was actually not based on designs from the films; and the Imperial freighter, a reimagining of an Imperial-style craft designed for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace by concept artist Doug Chiang, featuring a dock to transport TIE fighters from system to system.

If anything was made clear at today’s panel, it’s that the Empire is back — thanks to Star Wars Rebels.

Marvel Is Prepping Four New Series!

It looks like we’re going to be getting some more Marvel goodness in the form of four new series that the company has been developing. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been blowing up on ABC, and apparently they are ready to expand the TV universe.

According to Deadline, “Marvel is quietly putting together a package of four drama series and a miniseries — a total of some 60 episodes — that would be taken out to the VOD and cable space, with Netflix, Amazon and WGN America rumored as potential candidates. Feelers had been send out, and I hear there’s already interest from digital platforms and traditional cable networks in the package, which I hear is in very early stages with very little talent attached.”

There’s no word on what these series will feature, but it was recently reported that an Agent Carter series was being developed. There’s a chance it could be part of the package, but there’s no confirmation of what is happening with that. I’m personally a little sad that the Incredible Hulk series has been put on the back burner. Hopefully one day they actually move forward with it because that could be a huge hit.

ANT-MAN – Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd up for Title Role

All of us Marvel fans have been patiently waiting to see who director Edgar Wright would cast in the lead role of his Ant-Man movie, and two names have emerged! According to Variety, the role could go to either Joseph Gordon Levitt or Paul Rudd! Both are great actors, but if I had to choose one I would have to go with Paul Rudd, because I think he would be awesome at Ant-Man! Gordon-Levitt would be a good choice too, but I’m actually more excited about the possibility of him playing Doctor Strange, which was previously rumored.

Wright is currently in pre-production on the film doing some test shoots, and he’s even tweeted a behind the scenes photo. They are looking to get the film out in theaters on July 31st, 2015.

The site goes on to say that “sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of another actor entering the mix.”

final epsiodes of star wars clone wars to air in 2014

I’ve got some awesome news for all you Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans out there! Director and producer Dave Filoni has announced that the final episodes of the series will air in early 2014! Here’s what he posted on his Facebook page,

Star Wars fans – I have some exciting news! We have wrapped production on all of the remaining Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes, and while that might be sad news in one way, it’s good news in another. It means you will finally get to see them. When, exactly, is a detail I cannot yet share. I can confirm that in early 2014 you will be watching the final episodes of The Clone Wars, including one of Master Yoda’s most challenging missions. So, get ready. We’ve got Clone Wars and Rebels coming at you in 2014. Animated Star Wars is alive and well. Trust in the Force my friends.”

There’s no word on whether the episodes will air on Cartoon Network or Disney XD, but at least we know they are coming. The series will be replaced by Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Rebels, and I’m excited to see what that new series delivers!

The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

That series is set to premiere in the fall of 2014.

Star wars episode 7 tittle revealed!

some fun Star Wars: Episode VII news for you today! Our friends at Latino Review have revealed two titles currently being considered for Star Wars: Episode VII. Those titles are Return of the Sith and Rise of the Jedi. According to the site, the two “working titles were turned over to the Disney Company through the sale, BUT, there is no guarantee whatsoever that Disney will use these titles for the movie.”

Out of those two choices, I would hope they use Rise of the Jedi. It makes more sense and has a nice ring to it. The site also reminds us that Yoda told Luke to pass on what he had learned in Return of the Jedi, which means there should be more Jedi if Luke actually listened to Yoda. The universe will need Jedi when the Sith return.

5 ways to improve agents of shield!

Three episodes in and the word is out. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.   is a widespread “meh” for most people I talk to. With viewership taking a nosedive after the premiere episode, it seems the team has found their stride in viewership, and according to some analysts will likely get picked up for a second season. That being said, there’s still the peanut gallery and their complaints. I’ve heard a lot, and I have a few myself along with some suggestions that, in my opinion, would make the show exponentially better in the second season.

5. Tone Down The Score. 

This is perhaps the thing that most annoys me about the show, but it’s the easiest fix. There is a constant score within the show. Most the time you realize it because it’s much louder than it should be. Sometimes it kills a Coulson joke, other times it’s just plain distracting. I realize the score is good. Maybe I’d buy the album if they didn’t live stream it over the top of the show.

4.  We Know You’re In Bed With Disney. You Can Stop Telling Us.

I feel like there is some unspoken quota in which every Disney series is required to subtly work Star Wars and Marvel into its script, and Marvel must do the same in this show. Why else would a brilliant scientist name his flying robots after the seven dwarfs? Seriously, it’s more cringey than hearing the Stan from Dog With A Blog say, “May the force be with you.”

3. Make The Team A Bit More Diverse Or Change Their Personalities.

In terms of characters, Agent Coulson is about the only person I really feel a connection with. Jemma and Leo (the scientists) really are the same person written for the sole purpose of them hooking up at some point I would guess, and the same could be said for Grant and Melinda   . I’m three episodes in and I had to look up their names! I usually identify them as Science guy with the accent, the science girl, the Asian pilot, and the black haired guy…oh yeah, and Skye. I remember Skye’s name! Why? Because she’s the so desperate to fit in for approval with the squad I’ll show you guys I’m not useless, and I hate the way they are writing her character right now. She’s good at hacking! Just leave it at that and stop making her so bubbly. Really wouldn’t mind some character development in future episodes.

2. Nick Fury Doesn’t Need To Appear…

It was kind of cool to see Samuel L. Jackson in episode 2, but you have to imagine the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a lot better things to do than fly down and ream Agent Coulson about a hole in a plane when considerable parts of New York were decimated. It was a shameless ploy to draw interest into the show and not well executed at that. I had no idea it even happened until I went into work the next day as I had flipped the channel when the show seemed over! This isn’t a movie! You can’t expect me to stay post credits!

 1. Enough With The ’80s Success Sequence Of The Team.

Why do we need to see the smile on everyone’s face when the conflict is resolved? Did I really need to see Coulson’s awkward smile nod to Grant (had to look it up in post) after the head shot? The thumbs up was complete cheese as well. I wrote it off as silly pilot antics at first, but then it happened again…and again. Guys, for the love of Odin (see?! because I’m writing about Marvel), please end this if nothing else. It’s so unnecessary, and it makes me feel like I’m watching The A Team.

All that being said, I still love the action, Coulson’s antics, and the general direction they are taking the show. I just want to see it perform better and have more people to talk about it with. Fix these things Marvel, and I think you’ll see a third season.
