The Flash’s Full Costume Revealed!

flashwon625Following their reveal of the first photo of Grant Gustin as The Flash, The CW has debuted a full image of the entire costume, designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, as it will appear in the upcoming “Arrow” spin-off series. Check it out below!

“I hope the fans who treasure the character are as excited as we are by what costume designer Colleen Atwood has achieved with this latest version of The Flash’s iconic suit,” said pilot director/executive producer David Nutter (“Arrow,” “Game of Thrones”).

Joining Gustin for the show will be Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father, Detective West, Michelle Harrison? as Barry’s mother Nora Allen, Rick Gosnett as Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as S.T.A.R. Labs bioengineer Caitlin Snow, Tom Cavanagh as S.T.A.R. Labs CEO Harrison Wells, Patrick Sabongui as Police Captain David Singh, and John Wesley Shipp, from the original “The Flash” TV series, in an unspecified role.

“The Flash” arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg who, along with Geoff Johns, will write the pilot episode which is currently in production with “Arrow” pilot director David Nutter at the helm.

The CW has released the first official look at Grant Gustin as The Flash in their upcoming pilot. All we get to see so far is the headgear of the costume, which was designed by Oscar-winning designer Colleen Atwood. I’m curious to see the full costume as well what the effects will look like when he’s running at super speed.

In the series, scientist Barry Allen (Gustin) has a freak accident that gives him the power of super speed and transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive. Allen was introduced on the CW series Arrow, but he won’t make his debut as The Flash until the pilot, production on which begins next week.

Batman vs terminator fan made animated short

Terminator. The animation is really freakin’ good, and I liked the tone, style, and designs of the characters. This is an insanely impressive short, and I want to see the story continue. The film was created by Mitchell Hammond, and here’s the synopsis he gives:

30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet’s nuclear blasts in August of ’97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has seeked refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave.

Having scavenged the wasteland for resources, he discovers the radio of a dead soldier. There is static over a frequency. Flesh and blood is rising up to the west. With The Stinger; a riot control vehicular unit built before the apocalypse along with a refitted bomb blast vest, Batman makes his way across what remains of the United States to join forces with the man determined to neutralize the electronic menace – John Conner.

The CW (via CBR) has unveiled the first photo of their fully-assembled Suicide Squad from the hit series “Arrow.” Set to debut in the upcoming 16th episode of the second season of “Arrow,” the Suicide Squad was previously teased in an earlier episode where Amanda Waller (played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson) recruited Michael Jai White’s Bronze Tiger to join the team. The rest of the members of the team will include Mark Scheffer, aka Shrapnel (Sean Maher), Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot (Michael Rowe), and none other than Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson) and Oliver’s partner John Diggle (David Ramsey).

Also known as “Task Force X,” the Suicide Squad have been in DC Comics in many different forms since 1959. The team set to be featured on “Arrow” bears some resemblance to the current iteration of the team which also includes Deadshot and Amanda Waller. A few other villains that have appeared on “Arrow” have also been a part of the Suicide Squad in the source material including Clock King and Count Vertigo.

Seth Green on Why Ben Affleck Is Not a Good Batman Choice

As I’m sure you all know by now, Seth Green is a huge fanboy who cares about fanboy things, and he recently weighed in on the controversial topic of Ben Affleck‘s casting as Batman in Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel sequel. Fans are split on this casting decision, and Green falls on the side of those who are NOT fans of Affleck in the role of Batman. In a recent interview with Larry King Now the actor explained,

“Modern mainstream is accepting of interpretations of these characters with more gravitas, you know. We’re past the time of Adam West’s kind of goofy interpretation of Batman.

“You gotta remember that at the core of that character, Batman’s a crazy person. Batman has no powers. Batman is a rich, screwed up kid whose parents were killed in front of him.

“If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans before all else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older, you need a guy who’s got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of.”

He made some really good points there, but King came back at Green saying, “Affleck is a very good actor, and you’re supposed to act.” To that Green replied,

“Yes, but, there is only so much that you can act a role before people are or are not going to believe you in that role.

“I’m never going to play, um, you know, an MMA fighter, because I’d step into the ring with an actual MMA fighter like Batista and I wouldn’t look correct.”

I still think there’s a chance that Affleck can pull this off. If he doesn’t… there is going to be a fan uprising like we’ve never seen before. You can watch the interview below.

The Penguin, Alfred, and More Cast in GOTHAM TV Series

The Batman inspired TV series Gotham seems to be coming together nicely. It was recently announced that Ben McKenzie would play a young Jim Gordon, who will be the main character in the series. We now have casting for the Penguin, Alfred Pennyworth, Gordon’s boss, and his fiancé. I’ve also included the descriptions of the characters in the series (via: Variety.)

Robin Lord Taylor has been perfectly cast to play Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. the Penguin. The guy looks creepy as hell. “With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney, and hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”

Sean Pertwee will play Alfred Pennyworth. Described a “tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Pennyworth has loyally served the Wayne family. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne — the boy who will eventually become Batman.”

Zabryna Guevara will play Captain Essen, who is Detective Gordon’s boss at the Gotham City Police Department Homicide Squad. “Essen balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop.”

Erin Richards will take on the role of Barbara Kean, “the fiance of Detective Gordon (McKenzie). A sophisticated emergency doctor, Kean stands by her husband amid the corrupt world of Gotham.”
The series explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that infested Gotham. The series will also feature young Bruce Wayne, who is yet to be cast. Stay tuned for more details on what is sure to be an amazing series!

Original The Flash Star John Wesley Shipp Joins The CW’s New Series

Shipp’s character is being a kept a secret, but he is said to have been cast in a recurring role.

Shipp joins Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Details on Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

I was incredibly surprised and excited to hear that Jesse Eisenberg was cast in Zack Snyder‘s Batman Vs. Superman. I thought the choice was inspired. Not everyone is happy with his casting, but wait and see what they actually have planned for him. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t, but I think Eisenberg is going to be awesome as Lex.

Latino-Review got their hands on some details on what Lex Luthor will be like in the film and some huge plot points. Maybe they managed to answer some of the questions you have. Of course, there are potential MAJOR SPOILERS in the following information if they are true.

Here are the major points that they were revealed:

  • Lex Luthor will have a bald head.
  • Lex has a detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm.
  • Lex is the richest man on the planet and was a self-made billionaire at 18.
  • Lex is obviously the CEO of Lexcorp
  • He is a tech genius, a ruthless business man, and former Metropolis street tough.
  • At 14 Lex was living on the streets and was initiated into a street gang.
  • By 15 he was running the street gang.
  • According to Lex, the act of resolving is better than strength.
  • Behind Lex’s eyes “burn the fires of unparalleled genius. A powerful intellect enabling him to accomplish anything he bends his will toward. In the boundaries of his mind he is godlike but not a God.”
  • Lex is introduced early on in the story when Bruce Wayne visits him at his Lexcorp Tower Penthouse. Lex watching video of Superman when he enters.
  • Bruce and Lex don’t like each other. They have a past. “You see Bruce once called Lex as an amoral, arrogant brat. Lex thinks of Bruce as a trust fund baby. Lex considers he got himself to where he is at by innovation and hard work while Bruce by accident of birth.”
  • Lex considers Superman “an alien, and a trespasser that doesn’t belong on this planet.”
  • Bruce considers Superman an “impressive specimen.”
  • Superman is only one of the reasons Bruce comes to Metropolis. He has an interest in the city’s tragic circumstances.
  • “The rebuilding of Metropolis is Bruce Wayne’s main priority.”
  • Bruce will put aside his differences with Lex so they can work together by “pooling their resources” to better serve the citizens of Metropolis.
  • Even though Lex sees limitations in Wayne Enterprises, he believes he can still use the company for certain things.
  • Lex believes Superman can die and that he is not immortal.
  • Bruce sees Superman as a problem, but one that can be solved in a peaceful way. “One that doesn’t involve going toe to toe with a God.”
  • “Lex doesn’t intend to go toe to toe with anybody because he believes you don’t get to be a general by charging the frontlines with the rest of the troops.”
  • When Bruce leaves, Lex is thinking… maybe use the Batman

 

Mark Millar Explains Why a JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Won’t Work

Warner Bros. has been desperately trying to get their DC comic properties going over the years, and they are hoping that Man of Steel will pave the way for a Justice League movie that they can be proud of. The Justice League team is a hard group of superheroes to tackle, and I hope they can pull something amazing off.

Comic writer and Marvel consultant Mark Millar doesn’t think it will work, and in a recent interview with SciFi Now he explains why,

I actually think the big problem for them is the characters are just too out of date. The characters were created 75 years ago, even the newest major character was created 68 years ago, so they’re in a really weird time.

He goes on to break it down singling out certain characters like Green Lantern, Flash, and Auquaman,

Now the stuff I grew up with… I adored the DC stuff growing up but really, how do you do a movie about Green Lantern. His power is that he manifests green plasma from his imagination and uses them as weapons against someone? Even that in itself if you just imagine then watching a fight scene with a guy who’s like a hundred feet away making plasma manifestations fight someone – it’s not exactly raucous, getting up close and personal.

The Flash has door handles on the side of his mask and if he doesn’t wear that mask, I’ll be pissed off, you know what I mean? They’re in a weird, weird situation – if you’ve got a guy who moves at the speed of light up against the Weather Wizard and Captain Cold or whatever, then your movie’s over in two seconds.

You can get away with stuff in comics that in live action’s just a bit sucky – the best one is definitely Aquaman. Aquaman can’t even talk under water. If you think about it in comics it’s fine, you just have a speech balloon, but how do you have Atlantis and people talking under water? Are they gonna talking telepathically? Is it going to be body forms? The actual logistics of each member of the Justice League is disastrous, and you put them all together and I think you get an excellent way of losing $200 million.

Producer Michael Uslan Talks Batman vs. Superman, Casting Ben Affleck

Producer Michael Uslan Talks Batman vs. SupermanProducer Michael Uslan leads an enviable life. He’s been the producer on every “Batman” film starting with Tim Burton’s classic in 1989. Since then he’s been with the character through good times (The Dark Knight) and bad times (Batman & Robin). Uslan is already hard at work on the next big screen version of the character that we’ll get to see in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Speaking with EP Daily, Uslan talked about the the anticipation for the new project saying:

“I feel great. First of all, Zack’s a fanboy, and he loves these characters as much as any of us do. Everybody grows as filmmakers, as actors, all of us in life, if we don’t continue to evolve something is radically wrong, and it’s so interesting to see the evolution for everybody involved and to see the evolution of Batman, it’s exciting and everybody is pumped up about it. Its a chance for a new direction, and it’s going to be something that people I think will be just so excited about.”

The subject then turned to Ben Affleck’s casting as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and having been present for a number of Batman casting sessions, Uslan has a great perspective on the matter.

“It starts with this, I’ve lived this in the past before and I’m speaking now really more as a Bat-fan than as the Bat-producer. We went through it all with Michael Keaton. I lead the charge from the first time I heard Tim (Burton) was thinking of hiring Michael Keaton to play Batman. I’d go, ‘Oh my god, all the work, I’ve put in all these years to do a dark and serious Batman, he’s going to hire a comedian!’ I could envision the posters: ‘Mr. Mom is Batman,’ but then he explained his vision, he had a vision, and he was right. This is all about Bruce Wayne, it’s not about Batman, it’s all about Bruce Wayne. If you’re trying to do a serious, dark superhero, people have to believe in Bruce Wayne as that obsessed driven guy, to the point maybe of almost being psychotic. A guy who would get dressed up as a bat and do what he did. So we went through the hoopla with Michael Keaton. The fans were the same reaction that I had initially, except I had the benefit of hearing a vision right away. Then when they actually went to see the movie they never wanted to anyone else to play Batman, never.”

“A number of years go by, and then all of a sudden the torches and the pitchforks go up, ‘oh my god, the guy that played the gay cowboy is going to be The Joker? They’re going to destroy the greatest super villain in history. And then after Heath Ledger’s performance, when they actually went to see it, nobody ever wanted The Joker played by another actor again. So here we are, with an academy award winning filmmaker. You look at his last bunch of movies, Hollywoodland he had me convinced he was George Reeves. The Town, Argo, just really, really great quality of work. Again, I’ll go back to what Tim said in the beginning, it’s all about Bruce Wayne, and when you focus on it, Bruce Wayne, maybe in his mid-forties, what’s he going to be feeling? What’s he going to be thinking? What does he have on his plate to deal with? I just couldn’t be more excited about it.”
