Director Andy Serkis has cast Benedict Cumberbatch in Warner Bros. big screen adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. This is the first casting announcement for this film, and the actor will provide the voice for Shere Khan, the villainous man-eating tiger, and his voice is perfect for the character!

Jungle Book is based on the short stories written by Kipling that center on Mowgli, “an orphaned boy raised by wolves who befriends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther. The tiger Shere Khan is a lifelong enemy of Mowgli’s, with each vowing to slay the other.”

The script for the film was written by Callie Kloves. Her father is Steve Kloves, who worked on the Harry Potter movies, and he is producing Jungle Book.

The Warners Bros. adaptation of this story is competing against Disney’s adaptation, which has been fully cast with Jon Favreau directing. Idris Elba (Thor) is voicing Shere Kahn in that version.

Who do you think will have the better Jungle Book movie?

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER Delayed Due to Milla Jovovich’s Pregnancy

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53f2816de4b009ac85d34d55/1408401784013/resident-evil-the-final-capter-delayed-due-to-milla-jovovichs-pregnancy?format=500w

Resident Evil: The final Chapter is the last film that will be made in the horror franchise… until it’s rebooted again. The movie was supposed to go into production soon, but has been delayed. Milla Jovovich revealed on Facebook that she’s pregnant, and instead of shooting the movie, she’s going to wait until after she has the baby, which makes complete sense. Here’s the letter she sent out:

Happy Monday everyone! This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.  But… My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!

So after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn’t think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I’ll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes…

In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

Thanks so much for understanding! All the best! -m

Jovovich’s husband, Paul W.S. Anderson (writer-director of the Resident Evil franchise), was reportedly working on the script for the film back in June, but pre-production obviously got a lot further than we thought. Taking in account how bad the last few movies have been in this franchise, I wouldn’t mind waiting forever for another Resident Evil.

Jackie Chan Has Been Approached about RUSH HOUR 4

https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53ee1ebae4b08ae50e0b41f8/1408114366548/Movies_Films_R_Rush_Hour_3_010486_.jpg?w=584

It looks like New Line Cinema is planning to develop Rush Hour 4. In an interview with IGN, Jackie Chan admitted that the studio wants to make another film in the franchise, but they don’t have a script and until there is one, he’s not interested. Here’s his exact quote:

“Lately they want to make Rush Hour 4. I said ‘No, show me the script first. I don’t need another Rush Hour 4. You need Rush Hour 4. Show me the script.’ I don’t want to do a rubbish script just because they want to make the movie.”

Talk of a fourth Rush Hour movie started seven years ago, but thankfully nothing ever materialized from it. The last thing we reported on it was back in 2012 when producer Arthur Sarkissian, said that he was working with Chan and Chris Tucker on it. Here’s what he had to say about that and the direction he was looking to take it at the time:

“I am working on Rush Hour 4 right now with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. I’m trying to do it closer to how I did Rush Hour 1, more down to earth, more gritty, introduce two new characters and make it real the way the first one was. I personally was not happy with the third one. I thought 1 and 2 were very good. I think 3 got out of hand a little bit. It’s not a matter of just bringing them back to do another segment of that or a sequel to it by putting them in another city and having them bicker. I don’t want that. I want something new.”

I stopped watching after the first  film  not  so  sure this  film series should keep going  but  what  do u think?

Stallone Training for RAMBO V

https://i2.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53f0096ee4b0880c7d503b54/1408239993660/0000000000119.jpg?w=584

It looks like Sylvester Stallone really is going to come back for Rambo V. The sequel was in development back in 2009, and at the time it was called Rambo V: Savage Hunt. It was shut down in 2011. The most recent news regarding Rambo was that a couple of production companies who were developing a TV series were also going to develop the fifth film.

We learned that this time Rambo would be going up against a Mexican cartel. “Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men.” That should definitely be interesting. Stallone has now confirmed himself that he is getting really for Rambo V. This is what he said in a interview with Vulture,

“I’m getting ready for that. I’m starting to work out. I’m going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart. Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We’re going to try to cover all the boundaries.”

The sequel was originally supposed to be an adaptation of a novel written by James Byron Huggins called Hunter, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the case anymore. It definitely would have been a very different adventure for Rambom as he would have gone up against a “half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments.”

Would be nice to see one more if he can do it!  lets see if he can pull it off  or if it was a mistake!

Chris Pratt Almost Turned Down Star-Lord Role Because of G.I. Joe

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53e39bb4e4b0910e837807e6/1407425506881/chris-pratt-almost-turned-down-star-lord-role-because-of-gi-joe?format=500w

After seeing Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role. He was perfect, but he almost didn’t take the role! He actually passed on the role when it was first pitched to him because of a bad audition he had for G.I. Joe years ago. He talked about all this in a recent interview with Esquire saying:

“When Guardians of the Galaxy was pitched to me, I said, ‘I don’t think so.’ I just didn’t picture myself getting the role. I didn’t want to go and embarrass myself like I did when I auditioned for G.I. Joe a couple of years previously. I went in there, and halfway through I saw the director’s eyes just glaze over. It made sense — I was a little heavy and out of shape. I was not gonna play someone from G.I. Joe. I did not look like a G.I. Joe action figure come to life.”

I’ll just say that I think he’s better off having never got that G.I. Joe role. Director James Gunn saw the potential in Pratt though and cast him, and he ended up getting in shape and looking great. This is what he had to say about being in shape:

“I can do 40-inch box jumps now. Action-hero physical stuff. Jumping that high feels really good. You see a giant hillside, and you think, I wanna get up that. You see a building, you think, I could climb that. When you get in shape, the world around you becomes things you wanna jump on and climb up.”

I’m glad that he got past the failed G.I. Joe audition and took the Guardians role. It was one of the best decisions he could have made, and he was awesome in the role!

Samuel L. Jackson to Star in THE BLACK PHANTOM

https://i2.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53e3ab19e4b08bd3408a42c6/1407429411755/136078-the-avengers1.jpeg?w=584

Samuel L. Jackson is in talks with Screen Gems to star in an action comedy called The Black Phantom. Jackson will replace Jamie Foxx, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

The movie is being directed by Tim Story and it will also star Kevin Hart. The movie is described as “an outrageously inappropriate comedy where no topic is off limits in an odd partnership formed between a clever double-crossed mob hitman (Hart) and the notorious hit man The Black Phantom, who has been hired to kill him.”

I’m really curious to see how inappropriate this movie goes, but it seems like Jackson will be a perfect fit for it.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Sequel Going Into Development

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53e7b21ce4b0638731ee83d5/1407693344225/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-sequel-going-into-development?format=500w

It’s no surprise to hear that Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Like I’ve been saying, it doesn’t matter how bad the movie was, it still made a shit-ton of money, so of course the studio is going to cash in. The studio announced that Michael Bay will be back to produce the movie, and they set a release date for June 3rd, 2016.

Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol) will return to write the sequel. I liked their script for Mission: Impossible IV, but unfortunately, their script for Ninja Turtles was terrible. There’s no word on whether Jonathan Liebsman will come back to direct the sequel or not, but it doesn’t matter who directs it, I’m sure it will be just as bad as the first one.

Adam Goodman, President of Paramount’s Film Group, said in a statement,

“Launching a new take on the Turtles into the feature film world was a daunting task because as fans of them ourselves, we felt a great responsibility to ensure audiences were going to experience everything they loved about the Turtles, while also getting to see them brought to life in a way they had never been seen before. The result exceeded our high expectations and the response to the film is beyond great, making it all the more fun to get started on the continuation of their story.”

whats your thoughts of a  sequel?

‘Dragonriders of Pern’ Set Up as Movie Franchise at Warner Bros.

The Dragon Riders of Pern

Warner Bros. is launching development of a movie franchise based on the sci-fi series “Dragonriders of Pern.”

The studio has optioned the 22-volume book series from the estate of American-Irish author Anne McCaffrey, who died in 2011.

It has yet to set up the project with a producer.

The books are set in a pre-industrial society with  intelligent firebreathing dragons and their riders teaming to fight a rogue planet that attacks the world of Pern. The books take place over a period of over 2,500 years.

Drew Crevello and Julia Spiro are overseeing for the studio, which has launched the “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” franchises.

Will Ferrell, Adam McKay Producing ‘Manimal’ Movie at Sony Animation

Will Ferrell Manimal

Sony Pictures Animation is going animalistic, developing a movie version of “Manimal,” rebooting the TV series as an action-comedy combining animation and live action.

Producers are Jimmy Miller’s Mosaic, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions and original series co-creator Glen A. Larson.

The original series ran from Sept. 30 to Dec. 17, 1983, on NBC and starred Simon MacCorkindale as a man possessing the ability to turn himself into any animal and using that ability to help police catch criminals.

Jay Martel and Ian Roberts are writing the script. The duo are the showrunners on “Key & Peele” and wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros.’ upcoming comedy “Get Hard” starring Ferrell and Kevin Hart.

Sony Animation’s Michelle Raimo Kouyate and Michael Lachance will oversee the project.

Mosaic’s comedy credits include “The Other Guys” and “Step Brothers” with Ferrell along with “Bad Teacher” and “Talladega Nights.”

Larson is best known for creating “Battlestar Galactica,” “Knight Rider” and “Magnum, P.I.”

“Like ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ or ‘The Sound and the Fury,’ ‘Manimal’ has always been one of those elusive projects every producer dreams of taking to the silver screen,” McKay said. “I know the movie will be funny and entertaining but will it be the first film to win a Pulitzer? We’ll just have to see.”

New MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Photos with Hardy and Theron

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53cd2207e4b09ce5b33910ab/1405952522063/new-mad-max-fury-road-photos-with-hardy-and-theron1?format=500w

A couple new images from George Miller‘s Max Max: Fury Road have been released thanks to EW. The picture above features Tom Hardy as Max, and it doesn’t look like he’s having a very fun time. Then there’s an image of Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, looking like a badass. Warner Bros. has a panel for this long awaited film at Comic-Con this week, and I’m sure that’s where we’ll get our first look at some footage from the film.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by Tom Hardy from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And… Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

Mad Max: Fury Road lands in theaters May 15th, 2015. Stay tuned for more details later this week from Comic-Con!https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53cd21fae4b065e3be139cb9/1405952518305/WqluOnN.jpg?resize=398%2C528
