Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange movie has already experienced its fair share of controversy over the casting of Tilda Swinton as Strange’s mentor, The Ancient One, but considering how much more socially conscious we’ve all become since the comic was originally written (we haven’t solved racism or anything yet, but things have clearly improved since the ’60s), there are going to have to be some major changes to the source material in order for the film to work for 2016 audiences. Filming for Doctor Strange has been underway in New York City, and photographers got a really good glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo!

The first images that we had of the pair was back in February, but this is our best look yet, and they look fantastic. Hopefully, we’ll be getting a trailer for this soon. (Captain America: Civil War, maybe?)

Take a Peek Outside Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in New Set Photo

Following the new piece of concept art, Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito posted another image from the set of Doctor Strange allowing you to take a look outiside the main window of the good doctor’s Sanctum Sanctorum. Though at first glance it may appear like the skyline from Stephen Strange’s trademark Greenwich Village home, it’s actually a matte background hanging from the ceiling on the set which you can see at the top of the image. New Doctor Strange Images Are Magical

As part of Entertainment Weekly’s upcoming “First Look” issue, they’re releasing bits and pieces from their Doctor Strange preview early. After revealing the cover, with Cumberbatch in full Strange mode, they’ve released a handful of more photos and concept art from the film, as well.

The photos show a full spell-casting Doctor (as seen above), which Cumberbatch said he was amazed by.

“These gestures are ways of creating the magic,” the actor said of Strange’s signature hand and arm gestures. “It’s a beautiful thing, it’s balletic, it’s very dynamic.” Continue reading →
