Kanye West just released a new ballad, “Only One,” featuring Sir Paul McCartney, and his fans are already singing West’s praises for the vocal and writing collaboration. Unfortunately, it’s not for the reasons you might think. Instead of being impressed Kanye worked with a music legend, they applauded him for helping this “unknown” named Paul McCartney. Or is that Paul McCarthy?

For the majority of you about to read this, you are about to feel really old. And for the handful of you who have no idea who Paul McCartney is, please slap yourself because he’s one of The Beatles. You know, “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Help,” “Helter Skelter,” “Let it Be”… is any of this ringing a bell?

So Kanye West fans have been setting Twitter on fire with praise for West for giving such an “unknown” like Paul McCartney a shot at working with the musical half of Kimye. CurvedDaily now claims he was making a joke, but you decide.

Kanye West fan OvoJosh at least admitted not knowing who Paul McCartney was after this initial tweet.

“I don’t know who Paul McCartney is, but Kanye is going to give this man a career w/ this new song!!”

Then he dug the hole even deeper with his follow-up post, despite being honest about his faux pas.

“Oh sh*t sorry! I didn’t know Paul McCartney or whatever was apart of The Beatles! Who knew people remembered bands from the 40’s!”

BaeAsHell was also serious when posting the following Tweet about the Kanye West and Paul McCartney collaboration.

“Who is this Paul McCartney???? He boutta blow up thanks to Kanye!!!”

Many Kanye fans not only didn’t recognize the name, but referred to McCartney as McCarthy, oblivious to his status as a former member of the legendary Beatles.

Benedict Cumberbatch Opens Up about DOCTOR STRANGE

I for one is not crazy ab out this movie! I don’t think strange is interesting enough to hold a stand alone film, but i think cumberbatch is an excelten choice for this role! During an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cumberbatch opens up about playing the Sorcerer Supreme, and when he was asked if taking on this role was a risk, he said,

“I don’t think it’s a risk because of Marvel. Marvel is a stable of bringing out ordinary comic characters and turning them into screen-like gods. It’s very different, it’s an Astral Plane. There’s a huge new element to this Marvel universe that’s going to be employed in building this story and this character. But you know, I’m really excited about it, about working with Scott [Derrickson] whose imagination is endless, and all the boys and girls at Marvel who know what they’re doing. I’ve got a few things to get under my belt first. I’ve got to do that little stage production of Hamlet in the summer and the Christmas special of Sherlock, which we start shooting in about three days’ time – Whoops! Yeah, that’s there.”

For those of you not really familiar with the world of Strange, the Astral Plane is the second of seven levels of existence. The others include Physical, Causal, Akashic, Mental, Messianic, and Buddhaic planes. They all have connections to the physical world that only psychic beings can visit. It’s definitely going to be an interestingly awesome new element to explore in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor was then asked if he would be heading to the Himalayas to shoot the movie, and this was his reply:

“Ahh … you’ll have to wait and see. I’m not going to be eked out on any spoilers or reveals now. It’s quite a way off but I’m very excited about that spiritual dimension, obviously. It’s something that’s been a huge part of my life.”

Cumberbatch goes on to talk about meditation, his experience with monks in Darjeeling, and whether he would ever take on the mystical arts.

“I meditate a lot. That’s a huge tool in trying to calm myself, get away from the crazy circus of it all, have a focused mind as well as be a kinder, considerate person in the world. I took a lot of stuff away from my experience in Darjeeling, West Bengal, right at the Nepali border. It was Tibetan Buddhist monks in a converted Nepali house in India, with a view of Bhutan. It was a profoundly formative experience at a very young age. It’s something I’ve tried to keep in my life. It features already.”

Then, in case you’re wondering if the actor ever read the Doctor Strange comics growing up, he admits,

“Growing up, no. I didn’t read many comics at all. Asterix a bit. I think that was it. There weren’t many comics in my household — [in a self-mocking voice] ‘I’m so deprived.’ We didn’t have Marvel so much. But you can bet your bottom dollar I’m reading them now, avidly.”

The movie is part of the third phase of Marvel’s plan, and it’s scheduled to hit theaters on November 4th, 2016. It seems so far away, but at least we’ll have lots of other great Marvel film to watch between now and then.

Scarlett Johansson Officially Cast in GHOST IN THE SHELL

A couple of months ago we learned that Scarlett Johansson was offered the lead role in DreamWorks Pictures’ Ghost in the Shell. According to Variety, she has now officially signed on to star in the live-action adaptation of the classic anime.

The movie will be directed by Rupert Sanders and the story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

Apparently producer Steven Spielberg is a huge fan of the property, so I hope he makes sure that the story told in the movie is something the other hardcore fans will be able to embrace. With Sanders on board, the film should look great visually. I just hope the creative team managed to nail down a great script.

A lot of fans seem unhappy with the fact that the studio was looking to cast a white woman in the role of a classic Japanese character, but it should also come as no surprise. This is what Hollywood does when adapting properties like this for American audiences.

When we originally reported on Johansson being offered the role, there was a lot of mixed reactions from fans. I’ve become a fan of her work over the years, and she has proven that she can kick some ass in film. Now that it’s all set in stone, I really hope that she can pull this off in the most awesome of ways.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Script Completed by Jeff Wadlow

Back in April of last year it was reported that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow would be writing a script for the new Masters of the Universe film set up at Columbia Pictures. That script has been completed, and Senior Vice President of Production at the studio, Devon Franklin, posted a copy of the script’s title page on Twitter, which you can see below.

The project has gone through several writers over the years. Before Wadlow came on board, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu was attached to the project. Luckily for us, he’s not going to be around to ruin it. The film doesn’t have a director currently attached to it, but Wadlow is in contention with I Origins director Mike Cahill, who would be a very interesting choice. That guy seems to have a talent for filmmaking.

Wallow is also set to write the script for Fox’s X-Force movie, and that might prevent him from directing Masters of the Universe, so there’s a chance Cahill could get the gig, which I would be completely on board with!

I’m a huge fan of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, and I would love to see an epic, live-action, feature film adaptation. With the right team of talent, this could be an insanely kick-ass film. If the script that Wadlow wrote is good, I hope the studio finally moves forward with it.

Stuart Scott, ESPN Anchor, Dies at 49

Stuart Scott, one of ESPN’s best-known “SportsCenter” anchors, died Sunday at a hospital in the Hartford, Conn., area after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was 49.

Scott, who joined the sports giant in 1993 for the launch of ESPN2, was diagnosed with cancer in November 2007 and dealt with recurring bouts of the disease.

In addition to hosting “SportsCenter,” Scott covered numerous events and specials over his 21-year career with ESPN and ABC Sports. His most famous catchphrases — “Booyah!” and “As cool as the other side of the pillow” — have become part of pop culture; Scott was even parodied on “Saturday Night Live.”

“ESPN and everyone in the sports world have lost a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure in Stuart Scott,” ESPN president John Skipper said in a statement. “Who engages in mixed martial arts training in the midst of chemotherapy treatments? Who leaves a hospital procedure to return to the set? His energetic and unwavering devotion to his family and to his work while fighting the battle of his life left us in awe, and he leaves a void that can never be replaced.”

At this year’s ESPY Awards in July, Scott was presented with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award, named after college basketball coach and ESPN sportscaster Jim Valvano (who died of cancer in 1993). In Scott’s acceptance speech, he said about his two daughters: “Taelor and Sydni, I love you guys more than I will ever be able to express. You two are my heartbeat. I am standing on this stage here tonight because of you.”

During his ESPYs speech, Scott explained how he approached his fight against cancer. “I said, I’m not losing. I’m still here. I’m fighting. I’m not losing,” he said. “But I’ve got to amend that. When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live. So live. Live. Fight like hell.”

On ESPN, Scott anchored the 11 p.m. telecast of “SportsCenter,” and most recently was paired with his longtime partner Steve Levy on the show’s new set. He also played major hosting roles for the sports programmer’s NFL and NBA coverage, including the NBA Finals and Super Bowl, as well as the Major League Baseball playoffs and World Series, and the NCAA Final Four.

From 2007-11, Scott hosted ABC Sports’ weekly “NBA Sunday” studio show as well as ESPN’s NBA show, and served as a host during the NBA Finals Trophy presentation each year. Scott also hosted numerous ESPN and ABC series and specials, including “Dream Job,” “Stump the Schwab,” ESPN’s 25th Anniversary Special and “The ESPY Red Carpet Show.” In addition, he was a regular contributor to ESPN: The Magazine, ESPN Radio and ESPN.com, and was featured in multiple “This Is ‘SportsCenter’” commercials.

Prior to joining ESPN, Scott worked at local TV stations in Orlando, Fla., Raleigh, N.C., and Florence, S.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1987, earning a bachelor of arts degree in speech communications and radio, television and motion pictures. While at UNC, he played wide receiver and defensive back for a club football team. He was born in Chicago, but his family moved to North Carolina when he was young.

Scott’s cancer was identified after he became ill while covering the Steelers-Dolphins “Monday Night Football” game on Nov. 26, 2007, and he underwent an emergency appendectomy that revealed a malignancy. Four years later, Scott was diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer, which entered remission in early 2012 before returning in January 2013.

In remembrance of Scott, the White House issued the following statement from President Obama: “I will miss Stuart Scott. Twenty years ago, Stu helped usher in a new way to talk about our favorite teams and the day’s best plays. For much of those 20 years, public service and campaigns have kept me from my family — but wherever I went, I could flip on the TV and Stu and his colleagues on ‘SportsCenter’ were there.”

“Over the years, he entertained us, and in the end, he inspired us — with courage and love,” the statement continued. “Michelle and I offer our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and colleagues.”

ESPN also posted a touching tribute video remembering Scott and honoring his legacy.

Scott is survived by his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15; his parents; and his three siblings, Stephen Scott, Synthia Kearney and Susan Scott. His girlfriend, Kristin Spodobalski, was with Stuart and “cared for him every step of the way,” ESPN said.

Scott’s family has requested that donations be made to The V Foundation.

Madonna started off 2014 by calling her son Rocco the N-word, but this year she’s outdone herself.

In order to promote her new album Rebel Heart and show off just how edgy and relevant she is, Madonna shared a series of posts featuring influential black men with poorly PhotoShopped bondage cords wrapped around their faces. “This #rebelheart had a dream!” Madonna captioned the edited picture of Martin Luther King Jr. “This #rebelheart fought for freedom,” she noted of Nelson Mandela. “This #rebelheart sang about ONE LOVE!” she said about Bob Marley.

Jeff Wadlow’s MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Script Delivered To Sony

Most of the news these days coming out of Sony Pictures has been about the recent hack, or related to plans for the Spider-Man franchise (or, more realistically, the non-plans for Spidey) but now we have our first news about a property we haven’t heard about in a while: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. DeVon Franklin, Sony’s Senior VP of Production, confirmed, via Twitter, that an all new Masters of the Universe screenplay draft has been finished and turned in by writer/director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2). Considering they decided to show off the script to the public, there’s a good chance they at least liked it enough to probably go into pre-production; I can’t imagine the powers that be at Sony would have tweeted it out if they thought it was awful.

So what do we know about Sony’s potential He-Man movie? Actually, if Jeff Wadlow’s version is the one we see, we actually know quite a bit. Not too long ago, Wadlow appeared on a podcast on Masters of the Universe fan site He-Man.org, and went into great detail about his love for the property that he grew up with. He described his pitch to the studio in which he brought in the original 1982 Wave-1 set of action figures and explained how he realized he wanted to be a film director by playing with the old Masters toys as a kid, and that “his whole life had been building to that moment.” Whether or not Wadlow delivers a good movie or not is in the stars, but there is no doubt that he has an intense love for this property going all the way back to his childhood. Probably more than Michael Bay loved Transformers in any case.

Masters of the Universe was one of the biggest toy properties of the 1980s, along with Transformers and GI Joe. While the latter two have found success on the big screen, He-Man and company have remained in perpetual development hell. But with Spider-Man in limbo right now, Sony could use another big sci-fantasy franchise to take its place, and maybe He-Man and Skeletor or the ones to do it.

Ridiculous IRON MAN 4 Casting Rumor

An interesting but silly rumor has surfaced about who could be taking over for Robert Downey Jr. in a possible Iron Man 4. We know that Robert Downey Jr. won’t play the character forever, and that Marvel will have to find a way to replace him or remove the character from the MCU completely. Fans love Iron Man, and I imagine the studio will want to keep him around for as long as they can.

A website called Bam Smack Pow (via Cinema Blend) has reported a silly rumor that 14-year-old Ty Simpkins could be up for the role of Iron Man in a film that will be released in 2019. Simpkins is the same kid who played Harley Keener in Iron Man 3 and who will also appear in the upcoming Jurassic World. So by the time they make the movie the actor will be 17 or 18, but would Stark actually want this kid to take his place?

It’s really hard to believe that there is any truth behind this rumor. If fact I think it’s absolutely absurd. Hell, at this point we don’t even know if Marvel is even planning a fourth Iron Man film! For all we know, Marvel has a story arc in place that will lead to the farewell of Tony Stark through Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War.

I just can’t see Marvel handing the torch off to a teenager. The fans would go crazy! That’s just too much of a risk. Then there’s the fact that Iron Man isn’t Iron Man without Tony Stark.

Sylvester Stallone Announces ‘Rambo 5? Title

After months of speculation, Sylvester Stallone has finally announced the title for the fifth (and seemingly final) “Rambo” movie, “Rambo: Last Blood.”

The actor simply tweeted earlier this week that he’ll be filming a gangster biopic about Gregory “the Grim Reaper” Scarpa after shooting “Rambo: Last Blood.”

Seven years have passed since Stallone last reprised the role of Vietnam vet John Rambo. The last film, “Rambo,” earned $113 million worldwide.

Since 2008, he’s talked about both retiring the character (who first appeared in David Morrell’s 1972 novel “First Blood”) for good and bringing him back for a last hurrah. Stallone apparently decided on the latter as he’ll be writing and directing and “Rambo: Last Blood,” in addition to starring in the film.

Stallone will be returning to another familiar franchise this month. He also tweeted that he’s headed to Philadelphia to play Rocky Balboa for the seventh time in director Ryan Coogler’s “Creed.” He’ll play the trainer of Apollo Creed’s grandson, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan. Coogler last directed Jordan in 2013’s critically acclaimed “Fruitvale Station.”
