Darth Vader Toaster Burns Star Wars Logo Into Bread

1bd7 star wars toaster

Everyone, stop. The biggest piece of Star Wars release new this year isn’t The Force Awakens, the upcoming spin-off film, or the Marvel Comics series—it’s this Darth Vader toaster.

Knowing full-well that the key to a balanced diet is more Star Wars, ThinkGeek is now selling a Vader-sculpted toaster that burns the Star Wars logo into all manners of bread. Summoning the Dark Side’s force lighting, the Darth Vader toaster show its true power by toasting bread, waffles, English muffins, and toaster pastries. That’s right, Toaster Strudels just became even more irresistible. Sadly, bagels seem to have evaded the Sith Lord’s grasp…for now.

The toaster can toast two slices at a time, and also boasts a reheat, defrost, and quick stop function. Those first two features were probably quite handy during the battle of Hoth.

1bd7 star wars toaster inuseThe asking price of $50 dollar is a bit steep, but think of it this way: With this toaster, no one will ever want to eat out for breakfast again. And until Lightsabers are invented, it’s any fans best hope at preparing breakfast like a Sith Lord.

Pretty cool if you ever wanted to see whats inside of dearth vaders head!

TIE Fighter Pilot Sixth Scale Figure by Sideshow Collectibles

100294-imperial-tie-fighter-pilot-004TIE pilots served in the Imperial Navy by piloting the various TIE Series starfighters.

At the height of the Galactic Empire, the Imperial Navy had countless Academy graduates and clones at its disposal. During the time of the Imperial Remnant and the reign of a reborn Emperor Palpatine, the Empire was forced to be conservative with the lives of the TIE pilots due to their decreasing numbers, and unmanned TIE/D automated starfighters were used as support craft for living pilots.

They were referred to as “bucketheads” by Rebel pilots, due to their bulky, fully enclosed helmets. Within the Imperial forces they were often referred to as “coffin jockeys”, due to the high mortality rate of those manning the vulnerable TIE fighters.

Hellboy Premium Format™ Figure by Sideshow Collectibles

300252-hellboy-005

Hellboy is a fictional character created by writer-artist Mike Mignola. The character first appeared in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2 (Aug. 1993), and has since appeared in various eponymous miniseries, one-shots and intercompany crossovers. The character has been adapted into two live-action feature films in 2004 and 2008 that starred Ron Perlman in the title role, and two straight-to-DVD animated films, as well as two video games – Asylum Seeker and The Science of Evil.

A well-meaning demon whose true name is Anung Un Rama (“and upon his brow is set a crown of flame”), Hellboy was summoned from Hell to Earth as an infant demon on December 23, 1944 (given as his birth date by Mike Mignola[1]) by Nazi occultists (spawning his hatred for them). He was discovered by the Allied Forces; amongst them, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, who formed the United States Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD). In time Hellboy grew to be a large, red-skinned man with a tail, horns (which he files off, leaving behind the signature circular stumps on his forehead), cloven hooves for feet, and an oversized right hand made of stone. He has been           described as smelling of dry-roasted peanuts. Although a bit gruff, he shows none of the malevolence thought to be intrinsic to demons, and has a strong sense of humor. This is said to be because of his upbringing under Professor Bruttenholm, who raised him as a normal boy.

Hellboy works for the BPRD, an international non-governmental agency, and himself against dark forces including Nazis and Baba Yaga, in a series of tales that have their roots in folklore, pulp magazines, vintage adventure, Lovecraftian horror and horror fiction. In earlier stories, he is identified as the “World’s Greatest Paranormal Investigator.”

Lord Voldemort Sixth Scale Figure by Star Ace Toys Ltd.

902318-lord-voldemort-001

Lord Voldemort (born Tom Marvolo Riddle) is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter series. Voldemort first appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was released in 1997. Voldemort appeared either in person or in flashbacks in each book and film adaptation in the series, except the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he is mentioned.

In the series, Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter, who according to a prophecy has “the power to vanquish the Dark Lord“. Almost no witch or wizard dares to speak his name, instead referring to him by epithets such as “You-Know-Who”, “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” or “the Dark Lord”. Voldemort’s obsession with blood purity signifies his aim to rid the wizarding world of Muggle (non-magical) heritage and to conquer both worlds, Muggle and wizarding, to achieve pure-blood dominance. Through his mother’s family, he is the last descendant of wizard Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is the leader of the Death Eaters, a group of evil wizards and witches dedicated to ridding the Wizarding World of Muggles and establishing Voldemort as its supreme ruler.

According to an interview with Rowling, “Voldemort” is pronounced with a silent ‘t’ at the end, as in the French word mort, meaning “death”. This was the pronunciation used by Jim Dale in the first four U.S. audiobooks; however, after the release of the film version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in which the characters who dared refer to him by name pronounced it with the “t”, Dale altered his pronunciation to that in the films.

Exclusive Star Wars R2-D2 Measuring Cup Set

That *bleep* means your oven’s preheated

One of the fun things about using these R2-D2 measuring cups is that you get to play like you’re a Jawa. See, you found this droid, and in order to make it useful, you’re going to have to take it all apart. Utinni! But NOT with your ion blaster. Sorry. And we recommend an apron for the kitchen vs. those brown robes with the potentially flammable cuffs. Continue reading

Sony Is Bringing Back the Walkman With One Huge Surprise

Sony ZX2 WalkmanAudiophiles are going to want to start saving up now

Sony unveiled a new Walkman on Tuesday that will deliver an exceptional audio experience—at an exceptionally high price.

The new Sony ZX2 Walkman will set audiophiles back by $1,119.99, Sony revealed at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to Sony, the payoff comes with a clarity of sound that approaches master recordings in studio.

Unlike CD’s and MP3 files, which compress sound files into more manageable sizes, the new walkman will retain songs in “high resolution” (a typical song file weighs in at a hefty 150MB). That wider bandwidth allows for more sensitive recordings, “for a more authentic, emotionally involving musical experience,” Sony says.

Pono, a similar high fidelity audio player backed by Neil Young, retails at $399. Then there’s the larger question of whether the average listener can appreciate high-resolution sound files. Some studies have suggested young listeners actually prefer the sound of a compressed file.

The Sony device will come with a lot of storage for all those high-res songs. The Walkman ZX2 comes with 128 GB of storage, roughly enough space for 1,700 songs at this size.

The Walkman ZX2 will go on sale in stores this spring.
