GOTHAM – Edward Nygma, aka The Riddler, Cast in Series

Cory Michael Smith has been cast in the role of Edward Nygma in the new Batman-inspired series Gotham. Nygma eventually becomes the Riddler. The drama will explore the origin story of Gotham police commissioner James Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie.

Nygma is a brilliant yet socially awkward forensic scientist who’s eccentric and outgoing and desperate to be liked. As of right now, this is only a guest spot in the pilot episode that is currently being shot. It could – and should – turn into a regular role, though. It’s the freakin’ Riddler!

Smith joins the rest of the cast, which includes Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz, and Camren Bicondova.

Smith most recently worked on the HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge with Frances McDormand, a movie called Carol, opposite Cate Blanchett, and Camp X-Ray with Kristen Stewart.

SCREAM TV Series – Plot and Character Details

MTV has been developing a TV series based on the Scream franchise, and the network has started the casting process. Thanks to TV Line, we have plot information and character details on four of the series regulars.

The pilot episode was written by Jill Blotevogel (Ravenswood, Harper’s Island, Eureka). The reports also says that the series “kicks off with a YouTube video going viral, which will have adverse repercussions for teenager Audrey and seemingly serve as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to [her] town’s troubled past.”

There’s still no word on who will be directing the pilot, but I know the network has been working hard trying to get Wes Craven on board.

Here are the character breakdowns:

– Harper Duval: A 16-year-old beauty “who’s a little too introverted and intellectual to be a social butterfly” but has nevertheless been annointed by the popular crowd to be one of their own. “She feels guilty that she has drifted away from former best friend Audrey,” but at least she’s got a Gilmore Girls-esque relationship with mom Maggie to keep her sane.

– Audrey Jesen: Haper’s former BFF is described as “the bi-curious daughter of a Lutheran pastor” who’s “more arresting-looking than pretty.” This “artsy loner” dreams of being a filmmaker and shares a close bond with tech genius Noah.

– Noah Foster: Audrey’s closest confidante is “creative, brilliant and tech-savvy enough to be the next Steve Jobs.” Lucky for him, he’s got a great sense of humor (“a la John Cusack in his teen prime”) that helps him navigate the halls of his high school. What’s more, Noah possesses “an encyclopedic knowledge of books, films, TV, apps, etc.”

– Margaret “Maggie” Duval: Harper’s mom, in her early to mid-40s, is the town’s medical examiner, “a grown-up science geek who plays down her beauty.” Maggie spends a lot of her time trying to make up for the fact that Harper’s dad abandoned them. Oh, and she’s harboring “a dark secret from her past.”

10 Things You Didn’t Know About LOST

It’s been ten years since we first met the castaways of Oceanic Flight 815. To celebrate the anniversary of the show’s premiere, some of our favorite characters, including Sawyer, Hurley, Sun, and Desmond, joined co-creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse at this year’s PaleyFest in Los Angeles. In between speculation about the smoke monster and stories about living in Hawaii, the cast and crew let us in on a few secrets from the six seasons of the ABC hit show.

Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Despite being the first actor cast, Ian Somerhalder was the very first series regular to die on the show. Ian didn’t find out his fatal destiny until weeks before the scene was shot.

2. He was given a male character name on the show, but Vincent the dog is actually female.

3. Jack Shephard, played by Matthew Fox, was originally supposed to die at the end of the pilot episode. The creative team later changed their mind and made Jack the central character of the entire series.

4. During the casting process, Jorge Garcia came in and read for the role of Sawyer. He went on to star as Hugo ‘Hurley’ Reyes. Yunjin Kim auditioned for the role of Kate Austen. She eventually landed the role of Sun Kwon, a character producers developed specifically for Yunjin.

5. When the final episode wrapped production, Executive Producer Damon Lindelof ended up taking home the door of the hatch as a memento. He turned it into a coffee table. One of the other Executive Producers, Carlton Cuse, walked away with the countdown clock prop from inside the hatch.

6. Josh Holloway, the actor who portrayed Sawyer, actually wore his own boots for the entire series. He had them for years before production ever started.

7. Nikki and Paulo, characters introduced in Season 3, were immediately rejected by fans of the show. The creators quickly realized that while the actors were outstanding, the characters needed to be written out of the show. Their multi-season storyline was condensed to just six episodes.

8. The actor who played John Locke, Terry O’Quinn, lived close enough to the set that he would walk to work on many days of the production.

9. The idea for a group of people already living on the island was developed early on in the series. Writers didn’t formulate the name a logo for Dharma Initiative until the break between season one and two.

10. Finally, despite many conspiracy rumors, the co-creators promise the castaways weren’t dead for the entire duration of the series.

CBS Sets Mega 3-Season Renewal for ‘The Big Bang Theory’

Sheldon and Leonard will be geeking out on CBS for years to come thanks to a mega three-season renewal pact that CBS has struck with Warner Bros. TV for “The Big Bang Theory.”Deal for primetime’s No. 1 comedy runs through the 2016-17 season, shoring up a cornerstone of CBS’ schedule. “Big Bang” has logged its highest ratings to date this season, its seventh, averaging 19.79 million viewers and a 6.1 rating/19 share in adults 18-49.

Warner Bros. TV is also in the midst of contract renewal negotiations with key cast members Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and others.

“Big Bang” is the brightest star in Chuck Lorre’s constellation of CBS comedies. Lorre and Bill Prady co-created the series and exec produce with Steven Molaro, who has been showrunner for the past two seasons.

“Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is the biggest comedy force on television,” said CBS Entertainment chair Nina Tassler.

“This multiyear deal further strengthens our network’s position for future seasons and marks another chapter in the great partnership CBS enjoys with Warner Bros. Television for delivering audiences the best in comedy. We’re proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week,” she said.

Although “Big Bang’s” license deal with CBS expired after this season, there was never any drama about Warner Bros. TV shopping the show to other networks or rumors about a standoff over license fee negotiations. The show has been wildly profitable for the studio in syndication since 2011.

Financial details of the renewal were unclear, but CBS is undoubtedly covering all production costs on the series as well as adding a premium on top given that “Big Bang” is such a ratings dynamo.

Take a First Look at NBC’s Constantine!

FOX has released the official logo design and detailed plot synopsis for their upcoming Batman inspired series, Gotham. This show is sure to be a hit. Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

The Flash’s Full Costume Revealed!

flashwon625Following their reveal of the first photo of Grant Gustin as The Flash, The CW has debuted a full image of the entire costume, designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, as it will appear in the upcoming “Arrow” spin-off series. Check it out below!

“I hope the fans who treasure the character are as excited as we are by what costume designer Colleen Atwood has achieved with this latest version of The Flash’s iconic suit,” said pilot director/executive producer David Nutter (“Arrow,” “Game of Thrones”).

Joining Gustin for the show will be Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father, Detective West, Michelle Harrison? as Barry’s mother Nora Allen, Rick Gosnett as Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as S.T.A.R. Labs bioengineer Caitlin Snow, Tom Cavanagh as S.T.A.R. Labs CEO Harrison Wells, Patrick Sabongui as Police Captain David Singh, and John Wesley Shipp, from the original “The Flash” TV series, in an unspecified role.

“The Flash” arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg who, along with Geoff Johns, will write the pilot episode which is currently in production with “Arrow” pilot director David Nutter at the helm.
