When the Punisher first entered the world of Marvel Comics, in a 1974 issue of “The Amazing-Spider Man”, he was supposed to be called “Assassin.” The series’s writer, Gerry Conway, envisioned the character as a villain who would eventually become an antihero, but Marvel’s Stan Lee advised against the name, saying it could never be used for a good guy. Lee, at least as he told Alter Ego magazine in a 2005 interview, suggested “The Punisher” instead.In both that 1974 issue, and the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil, (which premiered in April, 2016), the Punisher is undoubtedly an assassin, gunning down New York mobsters with impunity. A month and a half after Spike gave a pilot order to drama “The Mist”, based on the Stephen King novella, the project, from TWC-Dimension Television, has received a straight-to-series pickup.
“The Mist”, which marked Spike’s first pilot order since the network returned to the scripted space, is now looking to become the network’s first original scripted series in a decade with production slated to begin in summer 2016 for a 2017 debut. Continue reading
Danny Rand spent ten years in the mystical city of K’un-Lun in the pages of Marvel Comics, and now “Game of Thrones”‘ actor Finn Jones is getting a taste of that training himself as he prepares to become the living weapon for the Netflix original series, Marvel’s Iron Fist. Marvel is developing a new TV series based on the comic “Cloak and Dagger”. The series is coming to Freeform network, which was previously known as ABC Family. (Which means it is owned by a certain corporation that also owns Marvel Comics and happens to rhyme with “Gisney.”) This news got fans of the property incredibly excited, and they should be! This is a great comic with great characters and it has the potential to be a great series…if it’s done right.
This is not to be confused with the Atari 2600 game, “Cloak & Dagger,” or the 1984 film, Cloak & Dagger, starring Henry Thomas and Dabney Coleman. I understand if you are getting your 1980s nostalgia all mixed up.

After years and years of waiting for fans of “The Walking Dead” comics, the Season 6 finale finally brought that iconic Issue 100 to life in what has easily become one of the most harrowing scenes on TV ever.

In the Season 6 finale of “The Walking Dead”, fans got their first glimpse at two unique, yet unnamed characters, who come across Morgan (Lennie James) and Carol (Melissa Suzanne McBride). Given the unique costumes they were wearing, many fans familiar with Robert Kirkman’s comic books are speculating that these characters belong to another group of survivors known as The Kingdom. During a new interview with ComicBook.com, showrunner Scott M. Gimple teased that those characters may or may not have been from The Kingdom, while hinting that fans may see an actual live tiger on the show in Season 7. Continue reading

Netflix may be expanding its relationship with Marvel.
The streaming service is eyeing a potential stand-alone series called “The Punisher”, a “Daredevil” spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The series would be a spinoff of “Daredevil,” where “The Walking Dead” alum will make his debut in season two. Continue reading
The official Facebook for Adult Swim’s Toonami block announced on Thursday that it will co-produce 12 new episodes of FLCL with Production I.G. The 12 episodes will be a sequel to the 2000-2001 original video anime, and will be split into two seasons. The show is slated for late 2017 to early 2018. Series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki will also return for the new seasons, which will air on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block. Continue reading
