If BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN vs. CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Were a Boxing Match

Yesterday, Disney confirmed that Marvel’s Captain America 3 will be going directly up against Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman. The films are to be released the same day, and neither studio is showing any sign of backing down. In an interview with Bloomberg (via ComingSoon), Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros, stated that there are no plans to change the release date of the Man of Steel sequel:

“It doesn’t make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date but there is a lot of time between now and 5/6/16. However at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs. Superman.”

A lot can happen in two years. But for now, if these two films are gonna kick off the summer blockbusters of 2016, I think this showdown deserves a proper introduction.

Boxing Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the movie theater. It’s May 6th, 2016, and we have the summer’s main event.

Introducing first, from the Marvel/Disney corner, wearing red, white, and blue shorts… no wait, he’s putting on a new outfit — it’s a much more “stealth” outfit made of kevlar with only a few red accents… oh wait, no. He’s getting back into his old uniform now… from Brooklyn, NY, it’s Captain America!

In the Warner Bros/DC corner, wearing red shorts… no wait, he’s removing the red shorts. And he’s just… ummmm, leaving them off. He’s now explaining to the judges that the S on his chest is not actually an S, but a symbol that means “hope.” The judges seem unphased by his remarks. From the alien planet of Krypton, it’s Superman!

Let’s get ready to RUUUUUUMMMBLE!

Commentator 1 : This is quite the matchup. But there’s no doubt that, in terms of powers, Kal-El is the more naturally gifted opponent.

Commentator 2: True. But he hasn’t had a fight in 3 years. Captain Rogers has a lot of momentum going into this fight. After he and The Avengers pulled off the ultimate team-up back in 2012, he continued to get into the ring. He made a cameo appearance in Thor: The Dark World which pleased fans a lot. He had a record breaking box-office weekend for his second solo film. And let’s not even get into how he and The Avengers handled themselves against Ultron last year.

Commentator 1: Yes, it was amazing when he — Oh wait! What’s this?! A third challenger???

Commentator 2: It seems Batman is now getting into the ring and wants to go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel. This is interesting, but one can’t help but assume that they’re gonna resolve their differences and team up at some point in this fight.

Commentator 1: If you look in the crowd you can see other members of the Justice League waiting to get into the ring as well. They’re wearing disguises, but they’re not fooling anyone.

Commentator 2: I’m sure we can expect to see them pop up toward the end of this showdown. Maybe not in a satisfying way, but surely they’ll do just enough to build anticipation for the next fight.

Commentator 1: I’m surprised anyone is in the crowd at all tonight. There were devastating casualties and an obscene amount of destruction the last time Superman got into a fight.

Commentator 2: Let’s hope Captain Rogers doesn’t get caught in one of Superman’s signature “headlocks.”

Commentator 1: The judges would surely deduct points for that move. But they have looked past the fact that Captain Rogers brought his shield into the ring, so who knows.

Commentator 2: Well, it’s the end of Round 1. We’ll be right back after a word from our sponsors.

Commentator 1: This fight is brought to you by your childhood. Your childhood self dreamed that these movies would be possible, and here they are.

Commentator 2: This fight is also sponsored by overpriced movie theater popcorn. Overpriced Movie Theater Popcorn, you’re stepping on it.

Michael C. Hall Would Consider Playing DAREDEVIL in Netflix Series

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53442386e4b0769293c5afa2/1396974477051/?format=750wMarvel and Netflix were joining forces to bring Daredevil to the Netflix streaming lineup. I wasn’t really worried about the content of the show because we all know the hit that Fox took for their version of the blind lawyer with a darker side. I don’t think that Marvel will allow that to happen again. However, I was concerned with who they would cast as the lead role. I was hoping they would hire Lee Pace to fill the role. I know that they already have him in the Marvel Universe playing Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy, but a man can dream can’t he?!

Well, it looks like the people at Marvel have their eye on a much bigger fish. There have been rumors circulating that Marvel wants the one and only Michael C. Hall, aka Dexter Morgan, to take the job. Yesterday Vulture had a chance to ask the actor what he knows about the rumors. This is what he had to say:

Last night, at the premiere of Hall’s new Broadway venture The Realistic Joneses, we asked the actor about those juicy rumors. “I’ve heard them, but I think that’s all they are — rumors,” Hall said. “Don’t misunderstand, I would definitely consider it … but I can’t tell you any inside information, because I think they’re nothing but rumors.” With Dexter so recent in his rear view, would he really be open to returning to TV so quickly? “I really am enjoying mixing it up a little bit, and I’m committing to things that have a foreseeable end in sight when I start them,” admitted Hall, “but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of [a new series] happening at some point. But I’d have to read the script!”

Hall has been very vocal about not wanting to do anything dark or anything that would keep him tied down for a long period of time. I guess being on Dexter for 8 seasons has left him feeling the need to spread his wings. I am glad that with a 13 episode season and some rather dark stuff that is inevitably going to come with playing Daredevil, Hall is still willing to think about starring. I hope they decide soon so they can start filming this summer as they had previously planned.

Toby Kebbell Cast as Doctor Doom in FANTASTIC FOUR

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/533b4c8ee4b051dde69fe04c/1396395173646/toby-kebbell-cast-as-doctor-doom-in-fantastic-four?format=750w

FOX and director Josh Trank have cast Toby Kebbell in the villainous role of Doctor Doom for their Fantastic Four reboot. Kebbell has had a good amount of strong supporting roles for films such as Wrath of the Titans, Rock-n-Rolla, War Horse, The East, and Legendary Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of Warcraft.

Kebbell will join Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell in the reboot that is scheduled to shoot this spring. The movie will be based on the Marvel comic The Ultimate Fantastic Four, and if you couldn’t tell from the casting, the story will focus on younger versions of the characters. It makes sense that Kebbell got cast, especially since he’s already worked with Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who is producing the film.

A lot of fans still aren’t on board with this film. In fact, I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for it. I want it to be good, especially since they brought together an incredibly talented young cast to help bring it to life.

The Fantastic Four is set to be released on June 19th, 2015, with a sequel coming in the summer of 2017.

Marvel Studios Have Movies Planned Through 2028!

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/533dada7e4b01599cd0ca1b1/1396551084767/marvel-studios-have-movies-planned-through-2028?format=500wIt’s no secret that Marvel likes to plan ahead. Last summer Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that their future movie plans stretched all the way to 2021, which seemed a long way off. Now in a recent interview with Businessweek, Feige mentioned a “map” on his office wall that includes their movie plans explaining that it was “like looking through the Hubble telescope,” and it goes even further into the future than 2021.

“You go, ‘What’s happening back there? I can sort of see it. They printed out a new one recently that went to 2028.”

2028?! Damn, that’s quite a timeline they have to work with! That’s fourteen years of Marvel movies ahead of us! They have thousands of characters to choose from, so who knows what movies we will see… the top executives at Marvel know, I guess. There are just an insane number of possibilities, including spin-off movies for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Black widow solo film!

It has been known for some time that Marvel Studios has been considering giving Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow a solo film. During a press conference today to promote their latest release, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, studio President Kevin Feige revealed that developmental work is still underway on just such a project.

“I think the idea would be great,” he says. “We’ve got various outlines and ideas of where to take that. As Scarlett already said, there’s a big element that explores her back story in an upcoming Marvel feature. The question really is, ‘When will we take her out of the ensemble and have her do her own thing?’ As you saw in [‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’], as you’ll see in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ she’s really the key to so much of the plot development.”

Opening internationally starting on March 26 and in North America on April 4, Captain America: The Winter Soldiermarks the third big screen appearance of Johansson’s Black Widow and also stars Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernandez.

Fox Dates The Fantastic Four 2, a Wolverine Sequel and a Mystery Marvel Project!

Fox Dates The Fantastic Four 2, a Wolverine sequel and a Mystery Marvel Project!

20th Century Fox is doing some serious forward-thinking as far as their portion of the Marvel Universe is concerned. The studio has just announced that James Mangold’s sequel to The Wolverine will hit on March 3, 2017 with The Fantastic Four 2 coming to theaters on July 14, 2017. They’ve also set a just-announced mystery Marvel project for July 18, 2018.

All of these dates are newly claimed territory on the release schedule and will follow the studio’s X-Men: Days of Future Past this May 23rd, X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016 (both directed by Bryan Singer) and Josh Trank’s The Fantastic Four on June 19, 2015.

There’s no word yet on what the mystery Marvel film might be, but the studio is also believed to be developing an X-Force film with Jeff Wadlow directing.

The studio has also moved Matthew Vaughn’s non-Marvel Universe comic book project, The Secret Service, even earlier from its originally-announced March 6, 2015 release to October 24 of this year. That will have it opening opposite the horror releases Ouija and Paranormal Activity 5. Ken Scott’s new comedy, formerly titled Business or Pleasure, is now title-less and will take The Secret Service‘s original March 6, 2015 date.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Has an Incredible New Trailer!

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53303fdae4b07cecfd94742e/1395671004796/x-men-days-of-future-past-has-an-incredible-new-trailer?format=750w

The new trailer for Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past is finally here, and it’s pretty damn incredible. The trailer is just as awesome, exciting, and emotional as the first one, only it is completely packed full of new footage. I’m sure that you’re all going to love it! I’ve also included a new poster for the film that you can see above.

The trailer features our favorite mutant characters, including Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Professor X (James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen), Blink (Fan Bingbing), Bishop (Omar Sy), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), and more.

Ultron and Scarlet Witch Spotted on the Set of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

A few photos from the set of Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron have surfaced and they give us our first far off look of the villain Ultron, along with new photos of Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

If you don’t want to get a tease of what Ultron looks like pre-CGI, then I suggest you don’t scroll down to look at the other images. If you do look at them, realize that this is not going to be the final look of the character. As I’m sure you all know, there’s a ton of CGI work that needs to be done to bring him to life.

I’m pretty confident that we’ll get out first look at some footage from this movie at San Diego Comic-Con, so if you’re going, you don’t want to miss the Marvel panel.

Evangeline Lilly Confirmed for ANT-MAN and Corey Stoll In Talks

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/5331ab6ee4b0c9fe03c9ce72/1395764080945/evangeline-lilly-confirmed-for-ant-man-and-corey-stoll-in-talks?format=1000w

A month ago we learned that LOST and The Hobbit star Evangeline Lilly was in talks to take on the lead female role in Marvel’s Ant-Man. It’s now been confirmed that her deal has closed, and she’s officially on board. Word on the net is she will be playing Hank Pym’s daughter and Scott Lang’s love interest. It would be pretty cool if she turned out to be Wasp though, she would easily fit the character. In the comics she is the daughter Vernon van Dyne and Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym was his associate. Who knows how it will all work out in the movie though.

The Wrap also reports that House of Cards and Non-Stop actor Corey Stoll is in early talks to join Lilly, Paul Rudd, and Michael Douglas in the movie. There’s no word on who he will be playing in the film if he’s cast, but all will be revealed in time.
