Rosario Dawson Joins Marvel’s Daredevil

Rosario-DawsonMarvel and Netflix announced today that Sin City and Kids star Rosario Dawson is set to join the cast of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” the new 13-episode series coming to Netflix in 2015.

Dawson will, according to the press release, play “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.” She joins Charlie Cox (previously announced as Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (previously announced as Wilson Fisk).

Although its purely speculative at this point, that character description does fit the Marvel Comics character “Night Nurse,” who was reintroduced to the Marvel Universe during Brian Michael Bendis’ run on “Daredevil” in 2004. The character also played a major part in Brian K. Vaughan’s “Doctor Strange” miniseries in 2006.

“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is executive produced by series showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”, “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”) and Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), who is writing the first two episodes of the series along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Smallville”).

“Marvel’s Daredevil” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

William Stryker was almost the Juggernaut!

As revealed to Empire Magazine in January by director Bryan Singer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg, originally in the script for X-Men: Days of Future Past Wolverine, Charles Xavier and Beast were going to enlist the add of a young Juggernaut to help break Magneto out of the Pentagon.
Josh Helman, who went on to portray the young soldier William Stryker, was originally set to play the Juggernaut role. As he explained to IGN last March, “I originally got hired on a different role, which is no longer in the script – it was going to be young Juggernaut, So I was like, ‘Oh, s#!t. I’ve got to put on like 30 pounds!’ So I was training for like four weeks.
“And then I got a phone call,” he adds, “saying, ‘Good news and bad news. Bad news first: Juggernaut’s no longer in the script. Good news: They’re having trouble with another role and they want to see you for it.”
Now, conceptual illustrator Anthony Jones has updated his website with designs for the Juggernaut that could’ve been.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will Take Place 10 Years After DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

https://i2.wp.com/moviebuzzers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Apocalypse-x-men-610x484.jpg?resize=584%2C463Director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg haven’t really been very shy about talking about the next installment of the X-Men franchise. Whenever they’re asked about it they go ahead and reveal little bits of information, and we’ve got a new one for you today. During a recent podcast Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith, Kinberg revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse will take place in 1983, which is ten years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

We knew that the story would most likely take place in the 1980s, but this information gives us an exact date. The movie will also introduce and explore different characters at different ages during that timeframe. It was previously revealed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult will all be back to reprise their roles, and that we might also see Gambit and Nightcrawler as well. It’s also been confirmed by Kinberg that we’ll see younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm.

I was a fan of apocalypse! Were you? are you excited they are going to go in this direction?

It gives us a look at Chris Evans as Captain America and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, with Chris Hemsworth as Thor calling down lightening from the sky. It also gives us a brief glimpse at some recruits training for what might be a part of the Avengers initiative that Tony Stark is bankrolling. This is mostly likely the organization that will be taking the place of S.H.I.E.L.D. I like the Captain America blue color of the recruits outfits. I hope Agent Coulson returns to the Marvel cinematic universe in Age of Ultron. The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 1st, 2015!

Marvel’s Daredevil Finds its Kingpin in Vincent D’Onofrio

Following last month’s announcement of Charlie Cox in the title role, Marvel has revealed that Vincent D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, in the upcoming “Daredevil” Netflix series.

The role previously played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 feature film, this iteration of the Kingpin is officially described as being “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.”

“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role,” says Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”

DeKnight (“Spartacus,” “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel”) and Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, “Lost,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” in addition to writing the first two episodes of “Marvel’s Daredevil”), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Smallville,” “Heroes”).

“Marvel’s Daredevil” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

“Daredevil” is just one of four new shows that will debut on Netflix from Marvel Entertainment which also include “Iron Fist,” “Luke Cage,” “Jessica Jones,” and a mini-series event of “The Defenders” that brings them all together. Production is scheduled to begin on the series this summer with a target release in 2015.

Channing Tatum Expresses Desire to ‘Change Superhero Movie’ with Gambit

gambittatum3

Though technically it’s still not official, it’s looking more and more likely that Channing Tatum will become the new Gambit in the X-Men franchise and the actor recently revealed to MTV they’re starting to lay down the ground work for his potential future in the franchise.

“Creatively, we’re starting to chug forward. Obviously there’s nothing [official],” Tatum said. “There are only conversations and dreams right now, really.”

Previous reports indicated that he would be introduced in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and would follow that with his own spin-off film. Now Tatum says that may not be the case, but either way, they’re hoping to change the idea of superhero movies with the character.

“We’ve talked about it being a standalone, first, and actually trying to change the ‘hero, superhero movie.’ Because Gambit is not your typical hero. He’s a thief. He walks on the gray. I’m hoping we can change it a little bit, and then ultimately feather into the other ones.”

Though no writer or director have been attached to the project, it’s possible that Gambit could be the “Untitled FOX Marvel Movie” which is currently set for release on July 18, 2018. Check back for more information on the project as we learn it.

Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, the New Orleans native mutant quickly became a fan favorite due to his kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing. The character’s only big screen appearance to date (outside his name being featured as an Easter egg in X2) was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch.

Although a specific release date for Doctor Strange has not yet been set, Marvel has two placeholder dates set for unnamed features on July 8, 2016 and on May 5, 2017. It’s looking more and more likely that the good doctor will be claiming one of those spots.

Peyton Reed to Direct Ant-Man!

https://i2.wp.com/www.bubblews.com/assets/images/news/1608470801_1355278853.jpg?resize=511%2C322Following a report last night that he was the frontrunner for the position, Marvel has confirmed today that director Peyton Reed will step behind the camera and direct Ant-Man following the departure of director Edgar Wright. In addition, Marvel has revealed that Adam McKay, who at one point was also in contention to direct, will contribute to the film’s script. Reed’s previous credits include Yes Man, The Break-Up, and Bring It On. He was also previously attached to the Fantastic Four feature film before director Tim Story.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Also starring Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson, and Corey Stoll, Ant-Man is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.

Ruffalo also spoke about the motion capture work for the film, which he seems to be enjoying even more than the last time.
