Uh-oh. Please take out your official Star Wars: Episode VII Salt Lick, but now that it’s been officially revealed that Harrison Ford’s leg is broken, the rumor is he’ll be sidelined for six full months — which means the movie’s either getting delayed or massively rewritten.

The potential news comes from the UK-based site Jedi News, who says sources told them of an emergency meeting ay Pinewood Studios this morning to discuss how to handle Ford’s sudden unavailability. Since Ford’s Han Solo is reportedly the film’s lead, the only way to make its Christmas 2015 release date — which Disney has refused to move before — is to rewrite Ford’s scenes, or rewrite the script entirely.

Assuming Ford is indeed the main character (which is itself a no-brainer), I honestly don’t know how this rumor isn’t true. Unless the script has Han Solo sitting down most of the time, something will need to change to accommodate Ford’s injury, and that’s either the script or the release date. The question is whether Disney would rather take the gamble on a Harrison Ford-light Episode VII movie in December ’15, or whether Disney’s shareholders and quarterly profit predictions and whatnot have the capacity to be patient.

If I had to guess, I think they’ll wait; I think Disney will feel much more comfortable keeping Harrison Ford the movie’s main star, no offense to Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. I also think the side-benefit of giving the film another six months of production time is better than trying force a full script rewrite at this point — as it stands, the movie is only 18 months away…

I know  i was not  crazy about ford being the whole focas of the movie.  I  would of liked the  3 mains leads to be the focus as the other 3 films were.  But maybe  this will force writers to  write more  time for  hamill and fisher!  what are your thoughts of the movie being pushed back to wait for the healing of  fords leg?

Rian Johnson, the director of amazing films such as Brick, The Brothers Bloom, and Looper, is set to write and direct Star Wars: Episodes VIII and IX! I couldn’t be more excited about this, I’m seriously beside myself with geek enthusiasm. I’m seriously more thrilled about this news than I was when I first heard J.J. Abrams was directing Episode VII.

Johnson is one of the most talented directors working today. It’s so great that Disney and Lucasfilm recognize that talent and hired him to bring to life the next two more chapters of the Star Wars saga.

I couldn’t think of a better choice to take over for Abrams. As much as I love Abrams, Johnson is a superior filmmaker. The guy has an extremely creative way with words in the scripts he writes and his film direction has always been stunning and beautiful.

According to Deadline, the director is getting started on the films quickly, and it’s obviously going to keep him busy for a few years.  What’s funny about this, is that a year ago the director was asked what his chances on directing a Star Wars movie would be, and this is what he had to say:

“I don’t think I’m on those sorts of lists. On the one hand, it’s Star Wars, it would be very hard to say no to.

“On the other hand, for me, I’m really enjoying just writing my own stuff, and right now that’s what I’m doing, I’m writing another original screenplay now, and we’ll figure out how to get it made.

“That’s sort of what I’m in it for, is telling my own stories, and seeing if we can strike out on some new ground. So, luckily I don’t think it’s a problem that I’ll have to deal with!”

Despite having 30 Years after Jedi to set one up, there is NO New Republic at the start of Episode VII.

Boba-Fett-similar armor is around. Probably not for the man himself. Mandalorians? Clone drama? Still unclear on a plot/character connection.

John Boyega isn’t a Jedi or a Padawan at the beginning of the movie, he’s the one that has the story arc that brings him into Star Wars’ greater universe. It has echoes of Luke’s arc in A New Hope.

Another source, actor Simon Pegg, previously seen in JJ Abram’s ‘Star Trek’ series and ‘Mission Impossible 3’, is in fact playing a secret role in the film and was present on set to shoot scenes in Abu Dhabi. This is in stark contrast to what Pegg had to say about a possibility of starring in Star Wars previously:

“I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting.”

Whether he changed his mind or this was a ruse all along, the fact is that Pegg may have an unannounced cameo or role in the film that we don’t know about just yet.

Recently, Making Star Wars reported some Star Wars Episode VII rumors from the Pinewood Studios lot. Today Latino-Review has weighed in on the veracity of the rumors based on what their sources have told them.

“First off, I’m not sure who is calling any of these people ‘Jedi Hunters,’ I have never heard that before. The term more often used in Latino Review correspondence has been ‘mercenaries,’ but mostly as a way to talk about them as a group of villains who are vaguely aligned for the same purpose, being controlled by a master or a source of income.

“Yes, Lupita Nyong’o and Adam Driver are in our villain cluster and there’s something vaguely Sith about the way they operate.”

Making Star Wars attempted to connect the “Jedi Hunters” with a character in the Star Wars Rebels series called the Inquisitor, speculating that David Oyelowo would be voicing the character who would appear in both projects. However, Oyelowo is actually playing a character named Imperial Agent Kallus. According to Latino-Review,

“David Oyelowo has not been on set and is NOT playing a CG character.”

Making Star Wars’ studio lot sources were right about several aspects of the look of the film, though. There are black and chrome stormtroopers. Since the New Republic never rose, there’s a lot of “very Imperial, but very new” stuff floating around the galaxy. Latino-Review claims there’s a battle on a Star Destroyer. A lot of the costume and set design is based on Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art for the original trilogy. And since the design of several characters in Star Wars Rebels is also based on McQuarrie’s work, Rebels will help to build the universe of the new trilogy.

According to Latino-Review’s source:

“there are black stormtroopers & other McQuarrie design helmets/costumes. Basically they’re reusing tons of discarded McQuarrie concepts…”

Latino-Review’s final assessment of the rumors?

“I think what we really got this week in Star Wars news is two or three good pieces of design information wrapped in speculation about what it’s all going to mean.”

Harrison Ford has been injured on the set of Disney and LucasFilm’s new “Star Wars” movie.

According to Disney, the 71 year-old actor was hospitalized after sustaining a bad ankle injury during filming on Wednesday.

“He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care,” the statement reads.

Ford was at Pinewood studios in England when a hydraulic door reportedly fell down and hit him, possibly fracturing his ankle.

He was airlifted to a hospital shortly after the incident.

The J.J. Abrams-directed “Star Wars: Episode VII,” co-starring Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, will continue shooting at Pinewood Studios while ‘Han Solo’ gets treatment.

The new “Star Wars” movie also stars newcomers John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver and hits theaters December 18, 2015.

Back in March it was rumored that 12 Years a Slave co-star Lupita Nyong’o would join J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII. Today Lucasfilm announced that she has officially been cast along with Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had this to say in a statement:

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

There’s no concrete information on who they will be playing, but there’s a good chance Nyong’o will be playing a villain in the story. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Episode VII is currently shooting, and the actresses will join the previously announced cast that includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

TMZ obtained a photo of what looks like the beginning stages of Han Solo‘s famous spaceship the Millennium Falcon!!!

Sources close to the Rebel Alliance tell us the pics were taken inside an uber-secret location in the UK — where different set pieces, props and creatures are being constructed.

At first glance, it looked like run-of-the-mill set pieces … until one of our top “Star Wars” nerds in the office spotted the legendary Millennium Falcon in mid-construction — at least that’s how it looks.

It’s been 30 years since Carrie Fisher has been a part of the Star Wars universe, and it’s so cool that she’s going to be involved with the franchise again with J.J Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII. While talking to an audience during an appearance at the “Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts,” she talked about her plan to get her character right this time, killing Jabba, and how she would much rather be playing Han Solo in the movie.

“I would rather have played Han Solo. When I first read the script I thought that’s the part to be, always wry and sardonic. He’s always that. I feel like a lot of the time Leia’s either worried or pissed or, thank God, sort of snarky. But I’m much more worried and pissed than Han Solo ever was, and those aren’t fun things to play.”

Rumor has it that Han is going to have a big role in the new movie, which is one of the reasons why she thinks it would be so fun to play. Fisher goes on to talk about her experience killing off Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.

“I had a lot of fun killing Jabba the Hutt. They asked me on the day if I wanted to have a stunt double kill Jabba. No! That’s the best time I ever had as an actor. And the only reason to go into acting is if you can kill a giant monster.”

When asked about details on her character Leia in Star Wars: Episode VII, all she said was:

“I would get in trouble no matter how I answer that question,” she joked when asked for details, although she admitted that she wanted the famous bun hairdo back for the new movie. “I’ve begged them to put the hair back on in grey and just catch me cooking with the hair, like Granny Leia.”

She concluded by saying that doing Episode VII will give her the chance to correct something about her original performance, and get the character right this time.

“We are doing it over again so I can get Princess Leia right this time. I think less British. I looked a little pretentious faking the accent. It was sort of a viral accent – it came and went.”

Here’s a bit of Star Wars: Episode VII news that has been floating around the internet that I thought I’d share. Some of them you might want to consider this a rumor for now, but you never know when it comes to stuff like this. The last photo at the end of the post might be a Spoiler, but we don’t know if it’s real or not.

First of all, it’s being reported that Hannah Levitt-Collins, Chloe Bruce, and Florian Robin will be working on the highly anticipated film as stunt doubles. Apparently the character that Daisy Ridley plays is “EXTREMELY gymnastic,” and her stunt double will be Collins. The news was posted on daisyridleynews, but the site seems to be down at the moment of writing this article. Here’s what was posted on it:

An extra on set of Star Wars Episode VII told me “today was very exciting, very exhausting, but really awesome. it was all about action today, explosions were awesome, and Daisy amazing like always, light on her feet, sharp face, beautiful, quick, and very polite.”

Also, is Hannah Levitt-Collins, a dancer/model from London, Daisy’s double for some scenes? There’s evidence she’s on set with her, just as there was with Chloe Bruce, the amazing stunt woman.

One of the stunt doubles, Florian Robin, tweeted out a photo (seen above) showing himself and Chloe in Abu Dhabi at the Qasr Al Sarab hotel, which is where some of the crew of Star Wars is staying.
