Alex Kurtzman’s THE MUMMY to Launch Cinematic Monster Universe

Alex Kurtzman was recently announced as the director of The Mummy reboot, which will be the first in a Universal Pictures cinematic monster universe, in the same way Iron Man launched the Marvel cinematic universe. Kurtzman is a brilliant choice to direct and has been involved with lots of acclaimed TV and movies, notably Star Trek, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Star Trek Into Darkness, Fringe, Sleepy Hollow, and Alias. His knack for great episodic and cinematic storytelling is exactly what’s needed for the movie that will kickstart a whole universe of films.

Universal is also pushing its release date back to June 26, 2016. My guess is that Universal and Kurtzman want enough time to properly develop the movie and map out the cinematic universe.

I’ve heard rumors that Universal Pictures cinematic monster universe will be set in modern day, a rumor I hope is not true. Maybe it’s my limited vision for these characters, but I’ve always seen them as period movies.

Paul Feig May Direct GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot with Female Cast

In news that has enraged depressed male Internet commenters the world over, Variety reports that Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) is in talks to direct a reboot of Ghostbusters that will feature an all-female ghost busting team. A new script will be written from scratch. I know that some of you were still holding out hope for Ghostbusters 3, but that seems less and less likely all the time. Bill Murray is never going to sign on, and Harold Ramis died earlier this year, which is most likely what prompted director Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2) to leave the project in March. That doesn’t leave much of a band to get back together (sorry, Dan Aykroyd).

Sony has been looking for a new director for the project since Reitman’s departure, and now it sounds like they’ve settled on this idea instead. THR originally reported that Feig was in talks to direct Ghostbusters 3, but have updated their article to state that this is a new project. Apparently the talks are very preliminary, and no formal negotiations have taken place, so nothing is set in stone. The director is already set to shoot Spy with Melissa McCarthy, due out next year, and he reportedly has several scripts in development at Fox, so this new lady Ghostbusters is, at best, third in line.

I know everyone complains about reboots, and a lot of them are terrible and unnecessary. The first two Ghostbusters don’t require updating, but if Sony is intent on squeezing more money out of the franchise, wouldn’t you rather see a fresh start with some really funny comediennes than one out of three original Ghostbusters handing things off to Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, and Zac Efron? I can get behind complaints that Sony is messing with the Ghostbusters, but I don’t understand complaints that girls ruin everything. Feig hasn’t directly commented on the news, but he did send out this sort of subtweet:

 Interesting how making a movie with men in the lead roles is normal but making a movie with women in the lead roles is a “gimmick.”

I feel ya, Paul Feig.

Not sure how i would feel about that  but  what  women would u like to see  as the leads if they do?

King Kong Prequel Film SKULL ISLAND and GODZILLA 2 Announced

Legendary Pictures was at San Diego Comic-Con today presenting several of their upcoming film projects. During the presentation, Legendary CEO Thomas Tull confirmed earlier reports that Gareth Edwards would be coming back to direct Godzilla 2. The lineup of monsters we will see in future installments of the franchise were also revealed in a fun video presentation from Project Monarch. Those additional monsters include Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. The crowd got pretty damn excited about these monsters coming in to join Godzilla. Edwards will start working on the project as soon as he’s finished directing his Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm.

At the end of the panel, Legendary had a big surprise for attendees.The studio ended the panel with a teaser for a film called Skull Island, which will tell an origin story of another great beast… King Kong. The teaser takes us through the island and ends with King Kong standing up through the tree’s beating on his chest and letting out a roar. The reveal was kind of anti-climatic, but it was still cool to see that they are making another King Kong flick.

I think it’s safe to say that somewhere down the line King Kong and Godzilla will meet on the big screen again. Skull Island will be released on November 4th, 2016.

THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 Comic-Con Trailer

The cast is currently blowing up the panel talking about the next season as I am writing this post, and as you’ll see in the trailer, there is going to be a ton of absolute madness that hardcore fans are going to to go ape shit over! Scenes Cut From Walking Dead Premiere for Being Too Violent?

Is the Season 5 premiere of The Walking Dead so violent and disturbing that some scenes have been cut?

This seems to be the case after an interview with star Steven Yeun – AKA Glenn – in which the actor claimed some scenes were so shocking, he wasn’t even sure if they were even legal:

Said Steven:

I remember a couple of scenes I would look over at what was going on in the scene and I would be like, ‘What the eff? What are we doing? How is this legal? It’s grounded and real, too; it’s not like torture or gore for no reason. It’s literally, that is what would happen and we are trying to show it. It would not work on network television, let me tell you that.

This is not the first time we’ve heard about the brutality of the Season 5 premiere. Only last week Lauren Cohan, AKA Maggie, made similar statements about the episode, saying some of the scenes were “so disturbing” she didn’t think they’d make it onto TV.

We already witnessed some seriously shocking scenes in The Walking Dead Season 4, probably none more so than Rick’s attack on Joe’s throat:

However, after hearing what Steven and Lauren have said about the violent nature of the upcoming premiere, I’m starting to get worried that the censors will get their hands all over the episode and cut all the controversial stuff out. If, as mentioned, the violence is not gratuitous but rather serves the story and is grounded in realism, then I think it should be kept in.

 

This is an amazing show  from the  character development to the stories within!  the effects are spectacular! and its only a tv show!  I would  hope  that the show  would  stay on the  course its following and  not have to  cut  parts  because its too violent!  I can only  hope  things  work itself out!

Is the walking dead to disturbing for tv?

Warning: Spoilers for The Walking Dead TV show and comic below.

Everything we’ve heard about The Walking Dead Season 5 suggests it’s going to push the boundaries of what’s acceptable to show on TV, but the latest news coming out of UnDead HQ sounds like they may have pushed it a little too far.

Talking about the Season 5 premiere, which will probably see Rick and the gang launch an assault on the Termites of Terminus, Lauren Cohan – who plays Maggie – revealed:

This episode is so disturbing. Some of the the stuff they shot yesterday, I don’t know if it’ll make it to TV.

Say what! How is it possible for the show to be more extreme than it already is? Last season alone saw the cold-blooded execution of a child, Rick rip out somebody’s throat with his teeth and the Governor behead Hershel.

My guess is the first episode of the new season will be based on the Hunters storyline in the comics, where Rick and a couple of guys track down the human-flesh-eaters and brutally murder them, showing no mercy.

If this is indeed the path the show walks down, then there will be blood. Lots and lots of blood.

the walking dead spin off show

Like this, but with actual peopleDespite AMC announcing plans for The Walking Dead Spinoff ages ago, we’ve since heard practically zero information about the show.

Until now.

The showrunner on The Walking Dead, Scott M. Gimple, spoke about the spinoff at the recent Saturn Movie Awards and whether there’ll be a crossover between the two shows. What he said is incredibly exciting:

I have little to do with the spinoff… This I do know. It’s set in the world of The Walking Dead but from what I understand, it’s not like Daryl’s cousin or anything… I would never say never [to a crossover between the shows] because if I was a viewer I would say that sounds awesome. But we’re doing our own show. I also think a crossover might be tough because it would take a lot of [license] within the comic story. We’ll see. When we get to all-out war, who knows? We’ll add another faction. It’ll be the Saviors and the Hilltop and the ‘Spin-offers’.

Holy hell!

“Before we get to all-out war…” Not “if” or “in case” but “before”. I suspected that a lot of the comic plotlines would be somehow adapted for the TV show, but this is definitive proof that they’re moving towards the ‘All-Out War’ storyline, which, for anyone who’s read the comic, is both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

Bruce Campbell Wants to Make a Horror EXPENDABLES Movie!

Bruce Campbell is the freakin’ man. He’s a great, funny guy who is also crazy talented. Let’s face it, big stars like George Clooney only wish they could be as badass as Bruce Campbell. If the actor has his way, there’s a chance that one day he will make an Expendables style horror movies.

I had never seen this interview before, but During an interview with The Hero Complex 4 years ago Campbell was asked about a couple of films he’d like to make, such as a sequel to My Name Is Bruce called Bruce vs. Frankenstein and The Expendables of horror movies. In his reply he explained us what he’d like to see happen with these:

“Yeah, ‘The Expendables,’ or more like the ‘It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World’ of horror. I want to get so many horror movie stars that people can’t possibly not see the movie. I want to give them other stuff to do. I want to have Kane Hodder be very particular about what he eats. I want Robert Englund to be a tough guy, like he knows tae kwon do or something. I want to find out the hidden sides of all these people. Some will play themselves, some will play alternate characters as well. I may approach Kane Hodder to play Frankenstein. He could be Kane Hodder himself fighting himself as Frankenstein. It could be crazy. It’s a silly concocted story that we hope to do maybe in a year or so. My breaks between ‘Burn Notice’ have been getting tighter because they’ve been adding episodes. They’re trying to trap me like a rat in the TV world, and I might just let them. There’s a script, it just kind of blows right now, so no one’s really seeing it. We gotta work on it. Definitely shoot in Oregon all on a stage. It’s like the ‘300’ of horror comedies. We want to make it a whole world. Someone’s gotta take Frank down for good.”

Sounds pretty good  but  did these  kind of  concept  kind of happen already? we had  other movies  where we  bring monsters together to fight!  What do you think?

Shane Black Confirms That His Predator Will be a Sequel

Big news broke yesterday with the reveal that Shane Black has plans to “reboot” 20th Century Fox’s Predator. Today, the Iron Man 3 writer and director (not to mention star of the John McTiernan original) tells Collider that his film does, indeed, tie to franchise continuity.

“Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” Black says, adding that he can, “…really get behind inventive sequels.”

Black will be directing the new film and writing the treatment, which will then be scripted in full by Fred Dekker (with whom Black worked on Monster Squad).

The 1987 original was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a United States special forces team that comes under attack from an alien entity that prizes the thrill of the hunt above all else. It was followed by a direct sequel, Predator 2, in 1990 before crossing over with Fox’s Alien franchise for two additional sequels, Alien vs. Predator and AvP: Requiem. In 2010, Nimrod Antal helmed a reboot with a new feature, Predators.

John Davis is attached to produce with Matt Reilly overseeing for Fox and Ira Napoliello overseeing for Davis Entertainment.

Stephen King’s THE STAND Developing 3-Hour Adaptation

This is such a huge story that it’s hard to believe that they’d be able to turn into a single movie. There was talk of turning it into a pair of films at one point, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case any longer. In a recent interview with Vulture, the director revealed that the plan is to make one 3-hour, R-rated movie with a full A-list cast. He also excitedly talked about how much he’s looking forward to making this film.

“We’re gonna do one three-hour, R-rated version with an amazing A-list cast across the board. Every single one of those characters will be somebody you recognize and somebody you relate to. And it’s gonna be awesome. I’m really excited. It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever got to do in my entire life. If 12-year-old me had ever known that one day I’d be doing this, to even just go back and look at that kid, I’d be like, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing!’ It’s just crazy. I’ve met so many actors over the years, and like, when I met Stephen King, I hugged him with tears in my eyes. He meant that much to me when I was young. I still say everything I learned about writing I learned from Stephen King. I don’t read screenplays. I don’t read screenplay how-to books. It’s always just, establish the character. Establish the character.”
