Chris Columbus To Produce THE GOONIES and GREMLINS Sequels?

There’s another rumor from The Tracking Board that has hit the web that says Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is set to produce the sequels to The Goonies and Gremlins. It was originally reported that Gremlins would be a remake, but according to /Film the film will actually be a sequel that takes place 30 years after the original film.

There has been no official confirmation of Columbus’ involvement at the moment, so we’ll treat this as a rumor for now.

Warner Bros. has been looking to get another Gremlins made for several years. The film project is currently on the fast track to production with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg set to produce.

The Goonies sequel has also been a topic of discussion for years, but until recently it didn’t seem like it would ever happen. The original movie’s director Richard Donner is on board the project, and he is the one who basically announced the sequel was actually happening. He also said that Steven Spielberg came up with the idea for the story, and they are looking to get the original cast together to star in it.

Spielberg is, of course, expected to be involved with both of these projects as an executive producer. I personally think it will be fun to revisit these classic movies and characters in these sequels. I’m really glad that these are going to be sequels and not remakes. I don’t ever want to see these movies remade.

He worked on the original scripts for both The Goonies and Gremlins. So it makes sense that he would come on board to help in the process of bringing these sequels to life.

I know  i would like to see sequels for both films  what do you think?

J.K. Rowling Just Published a New Harry Potter Story

https://i2.wp.com/imageserver.moviepilot.com/3176173-1748009911-hp-jp_-j-k-rowling-just-published-a-new-harry-potter-story.jpeg?resize=570%2C321 It’s been nearly seven years since we read the final book in the Harry Potter series, and J.K. Rowling has finally given fans an update on the beloved wizard in a new writing published to her website Pottermore.

In the new story, written as a gossip column dispatch from Potter character Rita Skeeter in the Daily Prophet, Harry is now a thirty-something with a mysterious cut on his cheek, as well as “a couple of threads of silver” in his hair. He is also married to Ron Weasley’s sister, Ginny Potter, who is now a journalist. Ron, of course, is married to Hermione Granger, while Skeeter writes that his “famous ginger hair appears to be thinning slightly.”

Job-wise, it appears that the three friends all worked together in the Ministry of Magic, though Ron left his job to “co-manage the highly successful wizarding joke emporium Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.” Meanwhile, Hermione — “the femme fatale of the group,” according to Skeeter — is the deputy head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The update appears in a series of Quidditch World Cup pieces that Rowling has posted to Pottermore to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil. However, this is the first time Rowling has written about her beloved characters as adults since the final Potter book, which likely explains why the website crashed intermittently Tuesday morning.

Guillermo del Toro Reveals PACIFIC RIM 2

Last week Guillermo del Toro announced that Legendary Pictures would be moving forward with Pacific Rim 2 and that he’s writing it with Zak Penn. He’s been talking about this sequel since the first movie was released and has shared some ideas for it like a Jaeger and Kaiju mashup. In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal the director revealed a few new bits of information on what he’s planning, and it’s going to be very different film than the first one was. Here’s what he had to say:

“We are three years away, so to spoil anything would be fantastically silly of me. What I can tell you: [screenwriter Zak Penn] and I really went in, we started with [screenwriter Travis Beacham] about a year and a half ago, kicking ideas back and forth. And, admittedly, I said to Zak, let’s keep kicking ideas till we find one that really, really turns the first movie on its ear, so to speak. (…) It was hard to create a world that did not come from a comic book, that had its own mythology, so we had to sacrifice many aspects to be able to cram everything in the first movie. Namely, for example “the Drift” (editor’s note: the neural link between pilots of the giant robots, or jaegers), which was an interesting concept. [Then there was] this portal that ripped a hole into the fabric of our universe, what were the tools they were using? And we came up with a really, really interesting idea. I don’t want to spoil it, but I think at the end of the second movie, people will find out that the two movies stand on their own. They’re very different from each other, although hopefully bringing the same joyful giant spectacle. But the tenor of the two movies will be quite different.”

He also goes on to talk about the animated series they are developing, this si what was  said:

We are talking about all the possibilities in terms of networks. We’re formulating ideas that are, again, interesting and not the usual route, but the series tackles the stories that happened to pilots working in the Shatterdome (editor’s note: a building where jaegers are built and maintained and pilots train), but also cadets learning how to become pilots. All of this happens prior to the first movie, and it gives you a little more depth into the background of certain characters that will appear in the second movie. So it’s really expanding the material. I was incredibly happy with the comic book series that came about from a graphic novel called “Tales From Year Zero,” and we are continuing the tales for the next three years. So by the time the second movie comes out, you will have probably one year of the animation airing, and you will have three years of the comic book series ongoing, so we are trying for all these things to be canon, to be in the same universe, to not wing anything, so that if anyone … a lot of kids, for example, have discovered “Pacific Rim” through the toys. They come in through the toys, and then they watch the movie, and then they learn this, they learn that through the movie or the comic book series, so we’re trying to make it canon so we can expand the universe. And by the time we come into the second movie, you have a good feel for the world, and we can dedicate ourselves to character and ideas and spectacle.

I am very excited about seeing a sequel. the main movie was awesome so i would like to see more of this film!

Live Action MAX STEEL Movie

Open Road Films has released the first batch of photos from their upcoming live action adaptation of Max Steel, and they give us our first look at Disney star Ben Winchell as the main character. That suit he’s wearing in the photo above is pretty cool. It looks like he’s about ready to go ballistic on someone. Continue reading

Ridley Scott’s EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53b2ea68e4b06a69e351fd0f/1404234345771/5-photos-from-ridley-scotts-exodus-gods-and-kings2?format=500w
20th Century Fox has released five new photos from Ridley Scott‘s biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, which tells the story of Moses. The movie stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, John Turturro, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley.

Scott is amazing when it comes to making these kind of ancient period films, and I really am expecting something great. I know he can deliver. When talking about working on the film the director had this to say:

“What I thought I knew about Moses I didn’t really. Either I wasn’t paying attention in Sunday school or I had forgotten. I was knocked out by who he was and the basics of the story—it has to be one of the greatest adventures and spiritual experiences that could ever have been.”

Bale plays the prophet Moses in the story, and when asked about Charlton Heston‘s version of the character, this is what he said:

“Charlton Heston does Charlton Heston better than anyone. But the biblical account of Moses is extraordinary, and there was lots of room for us to go to places that [Heston’s movie] The Ten Commandments never dreamed of going.”

Edgerton was cast in the role of Ramses, which is a very interesting choice, but one i think will pay off. This is what the actor had to say about landing the role in such a high profile movie:

“When you’re Ridley, you pick up the phone and people will turn up. I had to battle demons of self-doubt to feel like I belonged in this club… You take the hair off a man you never know what he’s going to look like. It’s like when you throw a bucket of water on a little dog. When Ridley first called me I have to admit I was like, ‘Really, me—Pharaoh of Egypt?’ But he made it work.”

He went on to talk about the relationship of his character with Moses:

“There’s a deep connection between the two of us. It becomes a really complicated relationship that starts with a lot of love and companionship and ends with destruction.”

The movie is set to be released on December 12th, and it looks and sounds like it’s going to be awesome! Expect to see the first trailer soon.

Bruce Campbell Wants to Make a Horror EXPENDABLES Movie!

https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53af962ae4b093af3e18290d/1404016179089/Screen%20Shot%202014-06-29%20at%2012.29.07%20AM.png?resize=443%2C252

Bruce Campbell is the freakin’ man. He’s a great, funny guy who is also crazy talented. Let’s face it, big stars like George Clooney only wish they could be as badass as Bruce Campbell. If the actor has his way, there’s a chance that one day he will make an Expendables style horror movies.

I had never seen this interview before, but During an interview with The Hero Complex 4 years ago Campbell was asked about a couple of films he’d like to make, such as a sequel to My Name Is Bruce called Bruce vs. Frankenstein and The Expendables of horror movies. In his reply he explained us what he’d like to see happen with these:

The Hero Complex via Latino-Review:
(Sept. 01, 2010)

“Yeah, ‘The Expendables,’ or more like the ‘It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World’ of horror. I want to get so many horror movie stars that people can’t possibly not see the movie. I want to give them other stuff to do. I want to have Kane Hodder be very particular about what he eats. I want Robert Englund to be a tough guy, like he knows tae kwon do or something. I want to find out the hidden sides of all these people. Some will play themselves, some will play alternate characters as well. I may approach Kane Hodder to play Frankenstein. He could be Kane Hodder himself fighting himself as Frankenstein. It could be crazy. It’s a silly concocted story that we hope to do maybe in a year or so. My breaks between ‘Burn Notice’ have been getting tighter because they’ve been adding episodes. They’re trying to trap me like a rat in the TV world, and I might just let them. There’s a script, it just kind of blows right now, so no one’s really seeing it. We gotta work on it. Definitely shoot in Oregon all on a stage. It’s like the ‘300’ of horror comedies. We want to make it a whole world. Someone’s gotta take Frank down for good.”

Sounds pretty good  but  did these  kind of  concept  kind of happen already? we had  other movies  where we  bring monsters together to fight!  What do you think?

7 New Photos from MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53ab3eb1e4b0ecfb5076e244/1403731634735/7-new-photos-mad-max-fury-road?format=500w

George Miller‘s Mad Max: Fury Road looks like it’s going to be amazingly insane! We’ve got seven new photos from the film thanks to EW, and I absolutely love the visuals that I’m seeing in them! They include images of Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult as the badass characters they play in the film. With the release of these photos, we’ll hopefully get to see a trailer soon! The director had this to say about the story in a brief statement:

“I wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes. In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.”

Mad Max: Fury Road is set to be unleashed in theaters on May 15th, 2015! If you want to read some early reactions to the film, click here. I included a synopsis for the film below:

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.https://i2.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/53ab40b4e4b0a767ff9ddf3f/53ab40b5e4b0e63cc7c43eba/1403732160504/mad_max_2.jpg?w=584mad_max_5.jpgmad_max_3.jpgmad_max_4.jpgmad_max_7.jpgmad_max_1.jpg

WARGAMES Remake has a New Writer and Director

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53aa3337e4b0ada1a700f1cf/1403663172222/wargames-remake-has-a-new-writer-and-director?format=750w

MGM is still planning on developing that remake of Matthew Broderick‘s 1983 classic WarGames. Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon was attached to develop it at one point, but he has since dropped out of the project. The studio is now in negotiations with Dean Israelite to direct the feature. They also are brining on Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco) to rewrite the screenplay, previously scripted by Noah Oppenheim. I’m not familiar with anything that Israelite has done, so I have no idea if he’s a solid choice or not. The studio obviously saw something in him.

The original film followed a young computer prodigy who hacks into a government system and accidentally initiates a computerized countdown to a nuclear weapons launch. All the while he thinks he’s just playing a game.

No one has been officially cast in the project yet, but according to reports the studio has been looking at both Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and Tye Sheridan (Mud) as potential actors to take on the lead role.

I know i always enjoyed the movie,  I would like to see where they can take the remake!  Seems like every movie is being remade these days!  Is there a movie that can’t be remade?

Sylvester Stallone Coming Back for RAMBO 5

https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53a84a38e4b0dbf739da4693/1403537983718/Stallone-Rambo-Gun-Old-1.jpg?w=584

A few years ago Sylvester Stallone was developing a fifth Rambo movie called Rambo V: Savage Hunt, but the development of it was shut down in 2011. Since then, there hasn’t been much talk of a new Rambo movie. There was a TV series announced last year, but Stallone isn’t going to be a part of that.

Some information has now surfaced from Splendid Film that the production companies that are developing the TV series have bought the rights to the next film. They also say that Stallone will be coming back to reprise his role. A press release was posted, but it’s in a different language. This is what part of it translates to:

“With Rambo V Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men. Like the last film, Rambo V is produced by Avi Lerner (The Expendables 1-3)”

The movie Stallone wanted to make was going to be an adaptation of James Byron Huggins‘ novel Hunter. This was the synopsis:

John Rambo could track anyone – or anything – on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultrasensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Artic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.

It’s a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can’t turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination – a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man’s cunning, a predator’s savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they’ll still have to contront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

I wasnt crazy about the last 2 rambo movies i dont know if he can pull off another rambo.  What do you think?

Shane black to direct a predator reboot!

https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53a9dddbe4b0991d8059eb31/1403641331469/xNySLKpRZv.png?w=584

Iron Man 3 director Shane Black has surprisingly come on board to write and direct a new Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox! Black also directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and wrote the Lethal Weapon movies and Monster Squad.

If Black wasn’t on board the project I’d probably be pissed off that the movie was going to get remade again. Back in 2010, Robert Rodriguez made Predators, which was an ok film, but it didn’t blow me away. It could have been way better. I’d like to think that Black is going to give us the badass Predator movie that fans expect and deserve.

Black was actually asked to help out with the original script back in 1986, but he turned it down. THR gave the story of how that all went down:

“The studio and producers wanted him to polish the script for Predator, which was then in pre-production. Black turned it down. A few weeks later, they approached him again. Once more, Black said no. Another few weeks went by, and then the studio called again. This time, however, he was told there was a small role in the movie and asked whether he would like to have it. Black said yes. When he arrived to the South American set, the studio execs and producers greeted him and said, ‘By the way, would you mind taking a look at the script?’ Black replied, ‘I’m still not rewriting it.'”

I was not crazy what was doen with iron man 3 but i did enjoy predators so i am hoping that he can make an excelent reboot!  What are your thoughts?
