We still haven’t seen a fully realized Hawkeye in the Marvel cinematic universe, but we’ve heard that he will have a much bigger role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He originally had a part in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but it was ultimately cut out. MTV recently sat down with Jeremy Renner and talked about the character. During the interview, he teased that he could show up in Captain America 3, and also said that he’s not really interested in seeing Hawkeye get his own solo film.

“I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially ‘Cap 3’. There’s whispers of that.”

I don’t think Hawkeye needs his own film. The closest thing to a solo movie that I think could work would be if he and Black Widow teamed up for some kind of mission. I’m just curious to see what they do with the character in Age of Ultron. Hopefully Whedon was able to turn him into a badass.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1st, 2015, and Captain America 3 will come out on May 6th, 2016.

X-Men Spinoff ‘Deadpool’ to Hit Theaters Feb. 12, 2016

Deadpool Ryan Reynolds X-Men Origins WolverineThe talkative mercenary character, also known as Wade Wilson, was created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza. He first appeared in print in 1991.

If Reynolds does reprise his role in the film it would mark his first superhero project since “Green Lantern,” which floundered at the box office in 2011.

On Thursday, Fox also took “Assassin’s Creed” out of its Aug. 7, 2015, slot and moved its “Fantastic Four” reboot into the date from June 19. The studio did not set a new date for “Assassin’s Creed,” based on a Ubisoft videogame and starring Michael Fassbender.
Additionally, the studio moved its young-adult drama “Paper Towns,” adapted from the John Green novel, from July 31, 2015, to June 19.

“Deadpool” is the fourth film to be set for the Feb. 12, 2016, date along with Lionsgate’s “Gods of Egypt,” Universal’s untitled animated pets project and Warner’s romantic comedy “How to Be Single.”

That DEADPOOL Movie We Are All Excited About Will Be PG-13

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/541dc87de4b09b50ed9c4ef6/1411238014267/that-deadpool-movie-we-were-all-excited-about-will-be-pg-13?format=750w

Earlier this week it was officially announced that FOX will release the long-awaited Deadpool movie on February 12th, 2016. This is something fans have been waiting to see for years, and it’s exciting to know that it’s actually going to happen, but that comes with a price.

Apparently, the reason FOX gave the movie the green light was because the script was re-purposed by director Tim Miller to fit a PG-13 rating. The studio wouldn’t have made the movie otherwise. The news comes from In the latest edition of Schmoes Know‘s “Meet the Movie Press” podcast, and this is what was said:

“I heard from the director that they finally figured out the script, and it was right before this was announced, that they figured out, and you guys are all gonna hate this, they figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore ‘not lose its soul,’ and that’ a quote, of the script so that they can make it.”

I know this is a total bummer because we all know that Deadpool is a very rated ‘R’ character, and it’s hard to imagine that they can fully realize this character in PG-13. Hell, even Wolverine hasn’t been fully realized on film yet! He’s a rated R character too. Even if Marvel owned the rights to Deadpool, though, it’s not like they would make a rated R Deadpool movie, especially since it’s a Disney brand. FOX was really our one shot at that rated R film we were all hoping for, but it’s not going to happen. This hasn’t been confirmed, but knowing the history of trying to get this movie made over the last few years it makes sense that this would be the case.

I’m still excited for the movie, just not as much as I was. They say it won’t lose “its soul” in the process, but they obviously had to make sacrifices to tone it down for a PG-13 rating. If you look on the bright side though, at least we are going to get to see a Deadpool movie. In the end you just have to ask yourself… would you rather have no Deadpool movie or a PG-13 Deadpool movie?

DOCTOR STRANGE Set for Release in 2016, Will Shoot in UK

Marvel has been developing Doctor Strange for years, and a new report from Screen Daily reveals that it will finally be released in theaters on July 8th, 2016. They also say that the studio is looking to shoot the film in May 2015 at Pinewood-Shepperton Studios in the UK.

Scott Derrickson (Sinister) is directing Doctor Strange from a script most recently written by Jon Spaihts. An earlier draft of the script had been written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.

It has yet to be announced who will play Strange in the film, but Joaquin Phoenix is said to be in final talks for the lead, and he’s the one actor mentioned in the report. Other actors that have been previously linked to the role include Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Huston.

Doctor Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and he made his first appearance in 1963’s “Strange Tales” #110. Marvel Claims The Amazing Spider-Man 4?s Old 2018 Release Date, Possibly For Avengers 3

avengers2 639x360 Marvel Claims The Amazing Spider Man 4s Old 2018 Release Date, Possibly For Avengers 3

Last week Marvel announced five new release dates, pushing the limits of its ever-expanding cinematic universe to 2019. At this point in time, no films have been announced for those dates, but that’s likely going to change this weekend when Marvel takes the stage at Hall H during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, just hours after Sony announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 4 had vacated its May 4th, 2018 release date (and that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 had been pushed into an unspecified date in 2018), Marvel has stepped up and claimed that May 4th date for one of its own films.

This continues Marvel’s aggressive trend of planting flags years in advance and is something that will only intensify the release date war currently waging between the likes of Marvel, Sony, Fox, and Warner Bros., which are all making big pushes to unleash superhero tentpole films.

While the studio is remaining tight-lipped about its plans for this new May date, there’s a very good chance it could be reserved for Avengers 3We initially speculated that the third Avengers film could arrive in 2019, but that’s only because there wasn’t a May date available in 2018. I could be wrong, of course, but judging by the way the studio has structured the MCU so far, releasing Avengers 3 in May 2018 just makes more sense.

Marvel probably won’t unveil all of its future plans at Comic-Con this year, but we should definitely expect some big things from them this week. As of right now, its release date schedule looks like this:

August 1st, 2014: Guardians of the Galaxy

May 1st, 2015: Avengers: Age of Ultron

July 17th, 2015: Ant-Man

May 6th, 2016: Captain America 3

July 8th, 2016: Unannounced (Doctor Strange?)

May 5th, 2017: Unannounced (Thor 3? Iron Man 4?)

July 28th, 2017: Unannounced

November 3rd, 2017: Unannounced

May 4th, 2018: Unannounced (Avengers 3?)

July 6th, 2018: Unannounced

November 11th, 2018: Unannounced

May 3rd, 2019: Unannounced

What do you think? Will Avengers 3 land on that 2018 release date? Sound off below!

Scott Glenn Cast As Stick In Daredevil

Scott Glenn has been cast as Stick in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil series, according to Marvel.com.

Glenn is known for appearing in films such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Silence of the Lambs and The Hunt for Red October.

Glenn’s character, Stick, was created by Frank Miller and is the blind martial artist who trains Matt Murdock to become Daredevil. In the Marvel Comics universe, he is the leader of a group of martial artists called the Chaste, so named because they are free from the taint of evil. The Chaste are the rivals of the demonic ninja clan known as the Hand. Stick also trained Daredevil’s rival and lover, the Hand assassin Elektra.

“Stick is one of the most important figures in Matt Murdock’s life and Scott Glenn embodies all the qualities of someone so integral to this hero’s journey,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “There are few actors who could bring such the authenticity, gravitas and charisma to such a key role in Matt’s journey to become the super hero we call Daredevil.”

Scott Glenn joins a cast that already includes Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), with Rosario Dawson and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk).

Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in May 2015.

Netflix’s Daredevil To Be More Violent Than Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Marvel’s The Defenders shows headed to Netflix might not have quite the same levels of objectionable content as other Netflix originals like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, it will have a harder edge than Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Here’s Marvel’s Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight, faced with the question of tone on Twitter:

Steven DeKnight        ? @stevendeknight

Less than Spartacus, more than SHIELD. RT @TimLydon0: What are you allowed to show on @Daredevil in terms of violence, swearing, etc?

Of course, “Less than Spartacus, more than S.H.I.E.L.D.” is a pretty big range. The latter airs on prime time on a broadcast network, while the former was original to Starz, a cable net.

The last time Daredevil was adapted, the Ben Affleck film was PG-13, but had little that wouldn’t be at hom on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in terms of sexuality or violence.

Andrew Garfield Blames Studio Cuts For Hurting The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield

Even though The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently one of the ten highest-grossing movies of the year at both the domestic and worldwide box office, the film is widely considered to be an underperformer when it comes to comic book movies. Spider-Man is arguable Marvel’s most popular character, but his film was beaten at the domestic box office by films starring Captain America, the X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy. The film also didn’t fare as well with critics and fans as other superhero movies have this year.

In a new interview with The Daily Beast, Garfield addressed criticism of the film and seemed to be pointing the finger primarily at studio cuts to parts of the film.

“For me, I read the script that Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci] wrote, and I genuinely loved it. There was this thread running through it. I think what happened was, through the pre-production, production, and post-production, when you have something that works as a whole, and then you start removing portions of it—because there was even more of it than was in the final cut, and everything was related. Once you start removing things and saying, ‘No, that doesn’t work,’ then the thread is broken, and it’s hard to go with the flow of the story. Certain people at the studio had problems with certain parts of it, and ultimately the studio is the final say in those movies because they’re the tentpoles, so you have to answer to those people,” said Garfield.

Despite taking issue with the studio cuts, Garfield stood behind the film, pointing to some of the deep scenes in the film that probably wouldn’t be seen in the typical comic book movie.

Garfield added, “I’m proud of a lot of it and had a good time, and was a bit taken aback by the response.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is currently scheduled to be released in movie theaters sometime in 2018.

Drax Will Have “Significant” Role in AVENGERS 3

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/540fdc4ce4b0345bd3df45e3/1410325592112/drax-will-have-significant-role-in-avengers-3?format=750w

According to a wrestling website called PW ManiaDave Bautista is currently in the process of restructuring his contract with Marvel to allow him to get more money due to the huge success of Guardians of the Galaxy. In the process they specifically mention that the actor is slated to appear as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and that he will also have a “significant” role in The Avengers 3.

Bautista is a perfect fit for the character Drax, and he seriously disappeared in the role. He brought some hilarious humor and emotional heart to the character, and I think it surprised a lot of people.

I’ve been speculating for some time that the third Avengers film would include a team-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. So if Drax will be in the movie, it’s only safe to assume the rest of the team will be in it as well. There’s no official confirmation of this, but it makes sense that these two superhero groups would come together and battle big bad Thanos.

The Avengers 3 hasn’t been officially announced yet, but common… we know it’s going to happen. I think it’s safe to say that it will be the capstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three.

I believe that Avengers 3 will follow the Infinity Gauntlet storyline from Marvel Comics. It features several superheroes from around the galaxy coming together to defeat the Mad Titan Thanos, who has used the Infinity Stones to basically become a god. Drax plays a very very important role in this storyline, so I got pretty excited when the site said he would have a “significant” role in the movie. That tells me this very well could be the story Marvel will move forward with.

SPOILERS Ahead for those who haven’t read the comics:

This could also implement a story arc called “Annihilation” in which Drax actually ends up killing Thanos. Killing Thanos is one of the main reasons that Drax even exists. It’s definitely in Marvel’s best interest to keep Bautista around because the fans love him.

Again, this is all just a rumor since there has been no confirmation, but it makes complete sense to me that this is how it could play out. Avengers 3 will be released sometime in 2018.
