Superman will make his first real appearance on “Supergirl” next season. Variety reports that casting is currently underway for Clark Kent, who’ll appear in the first two episodes of the series’ second season this fall. The announcement paves the way to the first new live-action portrayal of the Man of Steel on TV since “Smallville” ended in 2011.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg expressed excitement about the prospect of having Superman on the show, speaking also for fellow producers Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler. “Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” he said. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Superman’s debut will also happen on the CW, which just picked Supergirl up after the series was dropped by CBS. That means the character will coexist with other DC superheroes on the network like “Arrow”, “The Flash”, and “Legends of Tomorrow”. While the Justice League movie is already well underway, it’s pretty easy difficult to imagine a massive crossover with all these characters being made at some point in the future, if there is one actor playing a superhero on TV, and a different actor potraying him on the silver screen.
