Kevin Feige Explains Where BLADE Currently Stands With Marvel

One of the first non-terrible modern comic book movies to be made was 1998’s Blade with Wesley Snipes. Most people tend to credit Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, but it was really Blade that started the journey of modern superhero films. That movie was badass!

Some people would love to see Blade make a comeback at Marvel Studios! There’s no doubt that they’d do something awesome with the character. Apparently, a while back the producers of the Underworld franchise tried to set up a crossover film that would include Blade. Marvel told them no because they were planning something with the character. During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about this, and he explained where Blade currently stands with the studio, saying:

“They did ask a long time ago, and I think our answer was, ‘No, we’ll do something with Blade at some point.’ That’s still the answer. We think he’s a great character, a really fun character. You know, this movie [Doctor Strange] going into a different side of the universe has fun potential for him to pop up, and between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows, there’s so many opportunities for the characters to show up — as you’re all seeing now with Ghost Rider on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” — that rather than team-up with other studios with that character, we’ll do something cool on our own. What that is and what that will be? We’ll see. There is nothing imminent to my knowledge… of course, he shows up in the next episode (laughs).”

What do you think?  Movie? TV? Netflix? Where should the next Blade head off to? And who should be cast as Blade – Wesley Snipes, or some other actor? We want to know!
