John Boyega Says STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII Is Darker and Finn Is More Physical

There were so many questions left unanswered at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens that we may need the two more films in the new trilogy to answer those questions. There are plenty of fan speculation of what we could see happen over the course of the next two films.

None of the actors are really talking very much about the next film, but in a recent interview with Vogue, John Boyega, the actor who plays Finn in the franchise, teased that his character will have a more physical presence in Episode VIII. He also said the movie would be even darker than The Force Awakens.

Here’s his exact quote:

“[The script is] great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”

When asked if he had to prepare for the physical aspect of his character in The Force Awakens regarding his lightsaber fighting, he said:

“No, for this film we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more.”

It seems that Finn is going to get back out there and fight some First Order villains. We might expect to see a lot of fun scenes with Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron in the next film.

Even if Finn doesn’t use the Force in this saga, he still can kick some ass. How do you think Finn’s story arc will play out in Episode VIII?

Star Wars: Episode VIII is being directed by Rian Johnson, and it arrives in theaters on May 26th, 2017.
