Transformers 5 officially titled Transformers: The Last Knight

Did the Transformers franchise just go medieval on us? Paramount Pictures has announced that the fifth installment in the blockbuster series about massive shapeshifting robots has been dubbed Transformers: The Last Knight.

The official title for what had been known as Transformers 5 was unveiled on social media Monday afternoon with a close-up image of Optimus Prime’s face set to the sounds of heavy cybernetic breathing. The image fades into a title treatment featuring an Excalibur-style sword, followed by the revelation that production will start in June.

Are you ready for Transformers: The Last Knight?

Plot details have yet to be revealed for the film (the first four films didn’t have any, so why should this one?), which will once again star Mark Wahlberg and be directed by Michael Bay. The Last Knight is the first of several planned Transformers movies hatched in a writers room including Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend), Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and former Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight, among others.
