Director Bryan Singer starts production on X-Men: Apocalypse today, and one of the first things he did was release a photo of Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. This is the blue teleporting mutant who was played by Alan Cumming in 2003’s X2.
Smit-McPhee also released a photo of his own that you can see below.
You can also see a brief animation on Twitter of the character poofing in and out. It comes with the following note:
“Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. Check out this first look of @KodiSmitMcpheee as #Nightcrawler in #XMenApocalypse.https://t.co/Wn4AdMd3tK“
The actors returning from previous films include James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Lucas Till as Havok.
As for the rest of the newcomers, we have Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Lana Condor as Jubilee, Ben Hardy as Angel, and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27, 2016. What do you think of Smit-McPhee’s look?
