Last month Sylvester Stallone teased the possible return of Dolph Lundgren‘s Ivan Drago in the sequel to Creed. He posted a few images on Instagram, one of which featured Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), the son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), facing off against Drago. That image came with the caption:
Here’s a chance to stretch your imagination … HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, JUST GOT TO BE READY! … Sins of the Father…. #creed2 # agentnickyc #rockybalboa
In case you don’t remember, in Rocky IV Apollo comes out of retirement to fight the Russian boxer, and he ends up being killed by him in the ring. Will we see a story in which Drago meets the son of Apollo in Creed 2? I sure hope so!
When recently asked by TMZ if Drago would be coming back as a fighter or a trainer, Stallone offered up what seems like a confirmation that Drago will be in the film. He says:
“I’m gonna punch him…You know I gotta hit Drago once.”
He doesn’t say he wants to punch him, he says he’s gonna punch him. This seems to me like a confirmation that Drago will indeed be in Creed 2! No one has come right out and said that Drago will be in the movie, but it seems like that’s what the intention is.
I have no idea how this story of Drago will play out. Will he have a son of his own that will fight Adonis in the ring? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I just love that fact that Drago could end up being a big part of the story.
