Bryan Fuller has given us some great TV series’ over the years, including “Dead Like Me”, “Pushing Daisies”, and “Hannibal”. Now he’s working with NBC to revive the classic 80s Steven Spielberg anthology series, “Amazing Stories”.
Amazing Stories ran on NBC from 1985 to 1987 and focused on telling fantastical types of stories. The mid 1980s had a slew of anthology series, from “The (New) Twilight Zone” to “Tales from the Crypt,” to “Tales from the Darkside.” Unlike the others. “Amazing Stories” had much less horror, and more happier endings.
According to EW, Fuller will executive produce the series and write the script for the pilot episode. It will be an hourlong weekly anthology series “telling fantastic, strange and supernatural stories.”
Unfortunately, Spielberg is not involved with the project, which is a bloody shame. He really brought some great Amblin style magic to that series. Hopefully, Fuller can recapture that without Spielberg around. I’m really curious to see what Fuller plans on doing with this property.
