Toonami Run Time Cut in Half – Attack on Titan Dropped

2012 saw the triumphant return of Cartoon Nework’s anime programming block, Toonami, resurrected as a late-night spot on Adult Swim featuring anime favorites like Cowboy Bebop and new shows like Attack on Titan. The block runs a glorious six-and-a-half hours – that is, ran.

Due to low ratings in the latter half of the block, Toonami is being shaved down to 3.5 hours starting February 7. Shows that hit the chopping block include Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan and IGPX. Toonami says these shows “may be back at some point or may not.”

From Feb 7, the schedule will include DBZ Kai, Kill la Kill, Naruto, Inuyasha, Gurren Lagann, One Piece and Deadman Wonderland.

Kind of a bummer, no doubt, but if nobody’s tuning in after 3AM, better for Toonami to spend its resources on getting awesome new titles, etc etc.
