Underworld rebooted!

BUnderworld.jpgefore the Twilight franchise swept the box office, the Underworld series had a monopoly on the cinematic war between vampires and werewolves. Led by Kate Beckinsale, the original 2003 film spawned three sequels—and now it appears the series is getting rebooted.

As The Hollywood Reporter originally reported, the studio behind Underworld, Lakeshore Entertainment, has hired Cory Goodman to pen the reboot’s script. Goodman’s previous work includes the vampire-human war depicted in Priest, as well as the upcoming Vin Diesel film The Last Witch Hunter.

The last film in the series, Underworld: Awakening, debuted in 2012 and went on to become the franchise’s highest earner at the worldwide box office by a wide margin. But despite that recent success, Lakeshore should be sure to choose the reboot’s star wisely: The only Underworld film not to feature Beckinsale, 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, finished its run as the worst-performing entry in the franchise.

Wow i cant beleive they want to reboot this  film so soon!  i am  shocked  but lets see where the  new series takes us!

Episode VII’ Resumes Production After Harrison Ford Injury

J.J. Abrams shows off X-Wing fighterAfter taking a hiatus for several weeks from filming, J.J. Abrams has resumed production on “Star Wars: Episode VII” in the U.K.

The break was taken for holiday in August when many Europeans take time off, and also allowed for Harrison Ford to recover from the broken leg he suffered while filming in May. In July, Disney released a statement saying that production would pause “while adjustments to the current production schedule are made.”

Ford was recently seen at the “The Expendables 3″ premiere walking without any help and looked in good shape to get back to filming. He also did his own ALS ice bucket challenge, standing on his own in shorts without a cast or crutch.

The Truth Behind Hello Kitty Revealed

The world was introduced to some new information about Sanrio mascot Hello Kitty recently, though some of what emerged from an L.A. Timesarticle ended up causing widespread confusion. You wouldn’t think the world would go so topsy turvy just by reading that Hello Kitty isn’t a cat, but that’s precisely what happened thanks to a few things getting lost in translation.

The article was written in advance of the upcoming “Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty” retrospective that opens at the Japanese American National Musem in L.A. on October 11. The article taps University of Hawaii anthropologist Christine R. Yano for some insight into the hugely popular kitty, and one of the bombs she dropped was that Hello Kitty is not actually a cat.

From the article:

When Yano was preparing her written texts for the exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum, she says she described Hello Kitty as a cat. “I was corrected — very firmly,” she says. “That’s one correction Sanrio made for my script for the show. Hello Kitty is not a cat. She’s a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She’s never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it’s called Charmmy Kitty.”

Sanrio has since followed up with multiple sites like Kotakuto clarify that, yes, Hello Kitty is most definitely a cat. She just happens to be an anthropomorphic one, and should be regarded as a personification along the lines of Mickey Mouse. The latter may behave like a human in many ways, but he’s still a mouse, or at least a representation of one.

So, there you have it, heated controversy and debate deftly dodged! Feel free to enjoy the rest of the less dubious info about Hello Kitty in the article, including the fact that she’s British, has the full name Kitty White, and, understandably, holds a special significance to Asian Americans.

Chloe Moretz Gives Up on Hit Girl for KICK-ASS 3

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53fb7a48e4b0727da1b9d0a9/1408989769511/chloe-moretz-gives-up-on-hit-girl-and-kick-ass-3-thanks-to-movie-pirating?format=500wWith the comic book run of Kick-Ass 3 concluded, fans have been wondering if we will ever get another sequel to the film franchise. According to Hit Girl herself, Chloe Moretz, a Kick-Ass 3 movie isn’t going to happen. She has given up on the character she so awesomely portrayed, and the franchise that fans have enjoyed. She was asked about the movie in a recent interview with Digital Spy, and this was her reply:

“Sadly, I think I’m done with the character. Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don’t think there will be any more movies. You make these movies for the fanboys, but nowadays everyone seems to pirate them rather than watch them in the movie theatre. Kick-Ass 2 was one of the number one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn’t help us because we need box office figures. We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and a fourth movie – but because it didn’t do so well, we can’t make another one.”

Moretz violently sliced her way into the hearts of fanboys everywhere back in 2010, and it’s kind of a shame that we won’t see her play this amazingly awesome character again. It sucks that Kick-Ass 3 won’t get a movie adaptation, but at least we have the comic book.

Its a shame  i  personally loved the  2 films  i know  there are alot of people that did not  care for the second  film  but i thought it was awesome!  I do  hope  that there will be a  3rd film someday!

Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci To Leave MYTHBUSTERS

Well here’s one that’ll leave you shocked: following the conclusion the show’s latest season, Discovery has announced that Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci, better known as the M7 Build Team, will no longer be featured on the network’s hit series, MythBusters. The behind-the-scenes reasoning for the change is unknown, but based on the following video message, it appears the plan isn’t to replace the cast members, but rather to take the show back to its season one roots that featured only Adam and Jamie as the mythbusting team:

MythBusters         @MythBusters

We want to thank @KariByron @GrantImahara @ToryBelleci for their tireless work, and wish them all the best. https://amp.twimg.com/v/78aa5ea2-9cdb-4b56-9166-2d0cda206eff

While Savage has said in the past that 2015 was going to be a reboot for the series in terms of look, it’s surprising to learn the reboot also includes a cast shake-up. The Build Team’s been around since the second season, and it’s hard to imagine MythBusters without them. They will certainly be missed, but at least there will always be Netflix and YouTube to remind us of how awesome Kari, Grant, and Tory were.

Kari Byron         @KariByron

The show is taking a new direction. It was an amazing run. I learned so much about myself and the world. I love you all @MythBusters

Grant Imahara         @grantimahara

Thanks @MythBusters for allowing us to teach science in a whole new way. Also, explosions. Now, on to the next adventure!

HBO Making Shutter Island Series

HBO Making Shutter Island Series With Martin Scorsese Back To Direct

HBO and Paramount TV are teaming up to bring Martin Scorsese’s creepy horror flick Shutter Island to the small screen.

Deadline is reporting that the new series, possibly titled Ashecliffe, is centered around the creation of the island-located mental institution. So this would predate the 1954-set film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Rumor has it Scorsese will return to direct the pilot and Dennis Lehane, author of the original novel, will pen the script.

According to Deadline, “The focus is the past of hospital, and the secrets and misdeeds perpetrated by its founders who erected the hospital in the early 20th Century and developed the methods of treatment use for the mentally ill.” Sounds like more American Horror Story fodder but with a potential historical bent (if you’re involved, Scorsese). One thing’s certain, this period medical drama can’t be bloodier than The Knick, right? Oh god, we hope so.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Reprising SHAUN OF THE DEAD Roles For PHINEAS AND FERB

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53f27a3ee4b010bb9e737d40/1408399980413/simon-pegg-and-nick-frost-reprising-shaun-of-the-dead-roles-for-phineas-and-ferb?format=500w

Simon Pegg announced on Twitter that he and Nick Frost will be reprising their roles from Shaun of the Dead in a Phineas and Ferb Halloween special! How awesome is that? Here’s the tweet:

“Here’s news, @nickjfrost and myself will be once again stepping into Shaun and Ed’s shoes for the #PhineasAndFerb Halloween special. W00t!!”

Phineas and Ferb has had its fair share of annoying episodes, but they do have a handful of really cool ones as well. This Halloween special is sure to be a good one.

The show loves to play with pop-culture and pull on the nostalgia strings at times. They’ve implemented things from Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Wizard of Oz, Frankenstein, My Fair Lady, The Little Mermaid, E.T., Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Marvel, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and more.

Pegg and Frost will fit right into this world, and I can’t wait to see what they are planning for their characters in this Halloween special.

Dwayne Johnson Can’t Decide Between Black Adam and Shazam

https://i1.wp.com/cdn2-www.superherohype.com/assets/uploads/2014/08/black-adam-and-shazam-header.jpg?resize=475%2C202We’ve known for some time now that Dwayne Johnson is attached to a DC Comics movie, which the actor all but said was Shazam a few weeks ago, but now it seems Johnson has yet to make a crucial decision – which character he’s going to play.

Speaking with The Associated Press, Johnson revealed that has still can’t decide between playing the alter ego of Billy Batson, Shazam, or his arch-enemy, Black Adam. Johnson has previously mentioned that Black Adam is one of his favorite characters from the DCU, but perhaps Warner Bros. doesn’t want to see Johnson in the antagonist role for a film that could potentially be a huge family hit.

Rest assured though that whichever character Johnson takes on in the film, he says fans won’t be disappointed: “I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role.”

A rumor back in June pointed toward a Shazam film opening in 2016 along with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and though there is a DC based film set for release August 5 of that year, it hasn’t been confirmed as being Shazam. Check back her for more info on the film as we learn it.

Benedict Cumberbatch Joins Andy Serkis’ JUNGLE BOOK

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53f3796ee4b0d26469200cff/1408465271809/benedict-cumberbatch-joins-andy-serkis-jungle-book?format=500w
Director Andy Serkis has cast Benedict Cumberbatch in Warner Bros. big screen adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. This is the first casting announcement for this film, and the actor will provide the voice for Shere Khan, the villainous man-eating tiger, and his voice is perfect for the character!

Jungle Book is based on the short stories written by Kipling that center on Mowgli, “an orphaned boy raised by wolves who befriends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther. The tiger Shere Khan is a lifelong enemy of Mowgli’s, with each vowing to slay the other.”

The script for the film was written by Callie Kloves. Her father is Steve Kloves, who worked on the Harry Potter movies, and he is producing Jungle Book.

The Warners Bros. adaptation of this story is competing against Disney’s adaptation, which has been fully cast with Jon Favreau directing. Idris Elba (Thor) is voicing Shere Kahn in that version.

Who do you think will have the better Jungle Book movie?
